BOL just posted some hoops recruiting news. Anyone with a subscription over there see anything worth mentioning over here?

Nothing other than it's probably between us and MSU for Stapleton and there's supposedly some SEC rule preventing us from going after Obekpa.

@JonRothstein: BREAKING: Louisiana Tech transfer Xavian Stapleton has committed to Mississippi State, source told @CBSSports. Averaged 6.7 PPG.

Hmm. Not a big deal right?

Not really, no. I think he'll be a good player, but another 6'5 guy isn't our biggest need after landing Eubanks.

CAJ sure thinks so lol. We are pretty inexperienced on the wing besides Retin though.

That's why I'm hopeful we can add Shawn Smith who provides experience for this year and then we get that scholarship.

@TheRecruitScoop: Alabama lands a commitment from New Mexico grad transfer Arthur Edwards, per a source.
He's our 5th year transfer as opposed to Smith I guess. Not very good numbers, but he provides more wing depth and 5 additional fouls.

Guess he adds some experience because his numbers are rather, um, bad.

The positive I'm taking from this is that he's better than an unused scholarship

I'd be surprised if he played much more than Slaughter did last year, but who knows? Maybe he'll be the next Michael Jordan.

That's my line of thinking, but with Shawn Smith available it was a massive downer when I opened my "Alabama Basketball Lands..." B/R notification. Damn them.

Johnson is currently at the Adidas Gauntlet watching Mustapha Heron. I would imagine we will have Pospichal at the EYBL event since that's his bread and butter. Not sure where Simon and Pettway will be bouncing around at.

Every time I read Pospichal I always read it popsicle first accidently lol.
What are you guys expectations for next year?
All I really want to see is just improvement. I would love to see us get a tournament invite though and I think that's pretty realistic although it would be tough. Gotta set the bar high though.

I think a tourney may be reachable but I wont be angry if we don't get it

If we get a tourney invite, I'll be pleasantly surprised. We lost our 3 leading scorers from a borderline NIT team. It would be a very impressive coaching job and would require a lot of players to step their game up. I think we'll be a tourney team in 2016-17 though.

I'm just hoping for improvement throughout the season. We haven't had that in the last few years. Would love a NCAA bid, but I think the NIT is where we'll be. I do think we'll make the real tourny in 16-17. We seem to have a solid young foundation and it at least seems like AJ will be able to sign a couple of high ranking prospects

I think we will be borderline NIT depending on how many guaranteed wins we have scheduled in the nonconference.
