It has always bugged the hell out of me why our team year end yea out puts garbage on the field.Most fans have the excuse well we are a football team but I call bs. We should have better results. To get swept by ARkansas and to have a losing record in the SEC is ridiculous

Those late 90s series with LSU were great. Alabama was as good as any program in the country at that time. So they have shown it can be done. Maybe the new stadium will help.

Alabama needs a state lottery to help with scholarship restrictions.
As far as Bama being bad, it's not like your athletic department had been putting any focus on it until the past couple of months with the renovation of the stadium.. so not sure why it surprises you.

One of the main reasons Auburn and Alabama struggle in baseball is they only have 11 and a half scholarship. The states with lottery scholarships have a HUGE advantage.

I believe UA baseball coach has had plenty of time to turn Bamas baseball team to a contender in the SEC , Its time to give him a boot in the hinny and not let the door hit him in the back , How long is the AD going to allow him to get paid for putting a less than a average team on the field He has got to go,

Bama played ZERO home games this year. That is difficult. No lottery hurts, but not as much as it used to.

Couple things here.
FIRST- until there is either a lottery in Alabama or all schools are required to play by the same rules like football there is no chance to compete. Lotto talk is picking up steam and will happen in the next couple years. RIght now its impossible to compete with 11 schollies against teams with basically unlimited. We can use the 11 to get the best players out of state or instate and fill in the gaps with good role players from Bama with lotto schollies. We get that and Arky wont sweep us.
SECOND- I love these teams beating their chest about beating a Bama team that has:
-A home field an hour away
-Literally practicing on whatever grass lot they can use
-Team basically of walk-ons due to schollie limits. How many kids can afford half tuition?
You can build all the pretty stadiums you want. It wont matter. If the football team had 30 schollies and everybody else had 85 we would suck there too. Changing coaches? Not gonna do anything. No coach would take that job due to schollie limits. When Bama was competing I believe only GA,LA and FLA had lotto schollies so MOST teams we could beat on a level field. Wells railed on this for years as it became a problem in the latter years of his career. THAT was the reason he got out. Not his mom. He got tired of playing with one arm tied behind his back. With schollie limits only a loser like Gaspard would take that job. I wouldnt take it either.

MS has no lottery and both MS SEC schools have been to Omaha in the last 2 years.

I doubt Battle has the stomach for another coach search. The lotto argument comes up a lot and it's valid but until either the state or the NCAA gets off their asses and does something about it, it is what it is. I can't believe the NCAA has simply ignored this disparity for years. You gotta play the hand you were dealt and last in the west won't cut it. Ole Miss and State don't have lotto funds either and they seem to be doing ok. They are kicking our arse anyway. Gaspard needs to go but I doubt it happens this year.
