My buddy has a friend that lives in NYC, and he sent this to him earlier today:

sorry, no translations.

Made in Poland, baby.

According to a Polish speaking co-worker, the headline roughly translates to "The amazing story of Adam Griffith. From the orphanage in Stargardzie, to the White House."

That's awesome. What a cool story this kid will have to tell his children and grandchildren.

Polish people only have Robert Lewandowski (striker for Bayern Munich). Glad Adam gives them something else to cheer for.

If he can take another step in his game, his story might just be getting started.

Rags to riches doesn't begin to tell the story. 90% of us will never experience either ends of that spectrum. Kid has my respect no matter what. Kid is high praise for anyone wondering.

That Polish newspaper probably doesn't adequately tell the story either. Doomed from kick 6 the kid became the most consistently inconsistent kicker in college football and plagued a great team with shitty situations for several seasons.

Almost as if it's a different language.

It's because Spanish and French derive from the same origin language as English. You can see English words within Spanish and French words.

English actually a Germanic language, while Spanish and French are Romance languages. it just seems that way because there was lots of Latin and especially French/Norman influence in old English, so there was a lot of cross pollination between the two.

He's talking about Sebastian Janikowski, and the fact that he's Polish, and a piece of shite.

You're almost right, and yet you miss the very heart of it.

English is derived from Germanic (Not German!), Spanish and French are derived from Latin. English doesn't really have much in common with Spanish or French, though admittedly the languages do share some words and Latin prefixes/suffixes.
