"It's the only thing we know," Alabama senior defensive end Jonathan Allen said. "We're playing against ourselves as much as we are anything, playing to a standard that's been around here for a long time. That doesn't change, and it's never going to change as long as Coach Saban is around. I don't know if that's a secret. It's just the way we do things, and it doesn't matter if it's the first game of the season or the national championship game."

The culture of winning that Saban has built and the dominant mentality that has taken over our program is unmatched. Dubose was coach when I was in school. I never saw these days coming. Somebody pinch me.

Lol. He was there for a spring. It was a glorious cold and wet spring game though.

This is truly an unprecedented time as an Alabama fan

One of my earliest Bama memories was Joe Namath bringing us back in the Orange Bowl vs Texas. I wish there had been replay in those days. Yeah I am old LOL.

I got most of you beat. I remember losing the 1973 Sugar Bowl to Notre Dame. I grew up in the last golden age of Bama football, the 1970s when we were supposed to win every game. I saw Coach Bryant coach his last game in the Liberty Bowl and I was in high school when he passed. I didn't realize how good we'd had it until he was gone and lived through Perkins and Curry and Stallings and DuBose and Fran and Shula.

I saw 'em all. And we made it back to the level of very good with a couple of them, but we only briefly touched greatness again with Coach Stallings. It was hard because I had seen us be legendary and I thought I'd never see it again. I didn't appreciate it the first time because it was all I knew. It was the norm.

Legendary is back and I'm savoring it like great Kentucky bourbon. It won't last forever. Appreciate and enjoy it Bama brothers and sisters because it's harder for us because we've been here before and know what it's like. Most fans of most teams don't. Georgia fans don't know what legendary feels like. Neither do Auburn or LSU or aTm. Only a select few have touched this rarified air. Teams like USC, Notre Dame, Michigan, Oklahoma. And it's like a drug: once you've had it, nothing else will do. You know true greatness when you see it after having been there and even excellent doesn't quite measure up.
I'm enjoying the hell out of it this time and even though I get on here with all you and we cut up and we bitch and moan and gripe about the flaws we see like Kiffin's final gameplan, I know we're legendary and in the big picture, every season, every game is historic and adds to the legacy and the legend. The last game that we are still bemoaning; we destroyed the PAC 12 champion and #4 team in the country in a game where they were never a factor after the first quarter and we played a Meh! game at that! That is a luxury few know.

Monday night we will play a Clemson team that is truly excellent and they may win the game. If they do, I'll be disappointed for a while but I'll tip my cap to them and wish them well because I'll bet you my bottom dollar that we'll be right back in the thick of things in 9 months time. Clemson, maybe, maybe not. They can say for one year, they beat the legendary Alabama. But they didn't take our crown. Oh sure, they get the trophy for 2016-17 and the title. But we've been here before and we'll be here again. You can't take that away with one defeat. Because we are Legend. We are the GOAT. We are THE ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE.

Amen, brother.

Talking with my buddy the other day. Never imagined I'd see the day we threw down 50+ point arse whippings on the likes of USC and Florida, almost 50 on OleMiss, Tennessee, and Arkansas, all in the same season!

Definitely enjoying the ride.

Roll Tide fellas!

I once watched us lose to Georgia Military. Of course it was a JV game. Must've been 2001, 2002?

Great post.

My Mom,at 80,still talks about the 1969 Bama/Ole Miss Game.My folks were somewhere in the End-zone seats.

I graduated H.S. in 79'.From 71'-79' Bama was in the NC hunt every year.

As a teenager it was easy to take it for granted.Like phil said,I thought it was "the norm".

I never thought Bama would be this great again.

I'm savoring every snap this time.

I'm relishing every bit of what is happening now.

My fondest childhood memories were watching games with my dad. When we were in danger of losing my mom would take our dog for a walk while we yelled at the tv together.

'Antonio Langham, Antonio Langham!!!' my dad yelling like it was yesterday during the 92 SECCG.

Him picking me up and me hitting my head on the ceiling when we won the National Title a month later.

I wish he could've lived to see Nick Saban take the reigns. After every title we win I feel like he is right there like he used to be, still celebrating with me. Roll Tide forever.
