Can a man's Aggys have a win next weekend?

No?

A man is sad

As always, safe travels to those of y'all making the trip. If any of y'all randomly end up staying near San Antonio, don't hesitate to holler

OT, but how ready are you for the NBA season? I know you're a huge fan and I'm honestly pretty intrigued this year.

Took the family to the Spurs' open scrimmage this past weekend. Not a game, not a game, not a game, but a PRACTICE

Raising this kid right. Or brainwashing him. Whatever

Excited for the season. Lot of changes, lot of big pieces moved to new franchises (CP3 to houston, PG13 and Melo to OKC, Jimmy Butler to Minnesota, etc.). Warriors will still be the dragon everyone has to slay, but there should be some stiff competition for the #2 slot, and you never know what can happen if the Dubs have a run of bad luck.

As for my Spurs, we lost a fan favorite (Jonathan Simmons) and replaced him with a all-star caliber player working his way back from injury in Rudy Gay. Good news is Tony Parker probably will come back sooner than expected. Added a few unknowns (we'll see how they pan out), but this team will go as far as Kawhi takes us. Got to keep him healthy at all costs.

Sorry for rambling, but should be a fun year. Crazy that my hometown team has stayed relevant for so long. Here's hoping we catch a couple breaks this year.

Oh man, your kid is adorable.

And no problems. I haven't really ever invested much into the NBA, but I'm slowly starting to become a fan. My best friend and I are planning on going to a Grizzlies game in the spring. It's gonna be fun for sure.

Grizzlies

Terrific franchise. Spurs have played them in the playoffs the past two years in a row, and three times since the 2013 playoffs (and they upset SA as an 8 seed beating a 1 seed in 2011). Have come away every time with more respect for the way they go about their business: small market, no-nonsense team that plays old-school, hard-nosed defense. Marc Gasol is sublime as a 5 (love having his brother Pau in Silver & Black), and Mike Conley is one of the most humble, hardest-working stars in the game. Can't say enough about him

Let me know how you like the Grindhouse. Haven't been there for a game yet, but one day, hopefully. That place gets rowdy as hell.

And if you ever happen to be in SA when the Spurs are playing, would love to introduce you to the Texas Sized Phone Booth! AT&T Center puts on a great fan experience.

Good looking kid bud. We are gonna be making the trip for the first time and are really looking forward to it. Friends that have already been to Kyle have nothing but good things to say about the stadium and Aggie fan base. Can't wait

I don't have the funds right nkw but I want to see Kyle Field one day, even if Bama isn't the Aggie opponent.

It's one of the most unique looking and cool architectural forms of any stadium I know of. In fact, I'd rather go when you're not playing Bama so that I could join in the fun and pull for the Aggies. I've never been to Texas but want to go badly.

Thanks! Enjoy the trip and the game!

Usually we're one of the more welcoming places for opposing fans. If you run into any assholes, tell some other Ags and they'll go front 'em out. Dead serious. We treat hospitality as part of our identity.

That's because it's really a hodgepodge of 3 or 4 separate buildings You either love it or hate it right off the bat.

The place actually does sway when the crowd starts "sawing varsity's horns off." You have to be in the upper decks or the press box to feel the effect, though.

I want to go to a game at Bryant-Denny one of these days, too. Only been to a couple other SEC venues (Mizzou and Arkansas), so I'd like to take the family to more as Quattro grows up.

That's awesome Tbird.

As a Hawk's fan I will be living vicariously through you this season as we win 11 games.

Making the trip for the first time this weekend! Any suggestions for college aged fellas and for my 70 year old aunt and uncle I'm spending the weekend with?

Do y'all still have Tiago Splitter? I know he was injury prone, but he's still a fan favorite in SA.

Depends on when you're getting in town and how much walking you plan to do. It's a pretty dang big campus.

Since it's a night game, shouldn't be too big of a problem to stay up late Friday night and catch Midnight Yell. Think "high school pep rally on steroids" Bunch of cheesy (but mostly good natured) jokes at the expense of the visitors, practicing every yell that will be done during the game, and, of course, singing the Aggie War Hymn and such (pro tip: when the lights suddenly go out and the cannon fires, that's everyone's cue to kiss their date).

The bars on Northgate will be packed, but it's worth it to barhop if you're into that scene. Hell, a ton of Ags will offer to buy y'all drinks, probably. Other good eating spots are Koppe Bridge (burgers/fries), Cafe Eccel (pricey, but a damn good seafood joint), Chicken Oil Co. or the Dixie Chicken, or any of the Mexican joints (Mi Cocina, Abuelo's, etc.).

As far as gameday, they used to have a bus service called "Get to the Grid" that will pick you up from Post Oak Mall and drop you off by the Memorial Student Center (across the street from Kyle Field). Highly recommend.

Sights...Memorial Student Center is a great place to start. Lot of history there. My favorite part is the display with all of the Aggies who have won the Congressional Medal of Honor. Bonfire Memorial is always solemn/moving. Beautifully done. If your aunt/uncle are history buffs, the George Bush Presidential Library is a treasure trove. All of those points are quite spread out, though so plan carefully.

Definitely recommend posting up on the Quad an hour before kickoff to see the Corps/Aggie Band step off on their march in to the stadium. Much pomp and pageantry--it was probably my favorite part of gameday when I was a cadet.

That's all I can think of for now, but if you have any questions, let me know and I'll do my damndest to answer. Hope y'all's experience is a great one!

I'm probably going to the game. Been waiting for a year when Aggie early season hopes aren't as high so maybe tickets will be more modest. That's the hope at least. Want to buy them outside close to game time or find someone unloading them at ticket price.

No - we traded him near the end of last season for a trade exeception/cap relief or something. He literally played like 17 games in 2 seasons for us. I was so excited about getting him from you guys, but he was hurt for basically 2 seasons.

I am excited (well, that's an overstatement, but interested) in Dedmon.
