Looks like the offense will be Murphy's downfall again....Guy's a good coach, but has had problems in the past putting together strong offensive teams.

Can't deny he's done a great job. He practically built the program from the ground up. I'd hate to see him leave but it's also time for a change. I'd like to see him at least bring in some new assistants. I'm just a fan though.

Maybe pretend to take another job and it leads to a national title again.

Our last real shot was when we had Traina and McCleney at the same time (and they took us all the way to the title game a second time).
Guy's an GREAT coach, but agreed, consistent offense has become our boogey man.
Want some irony? Back in the 90s, Bama and Murph burst onto the college softball scene with a freakishly prolific offense that set numerous home run records.

It pisses me off to see the guy down at Auburn come in and immediately put an offensive monster on the field...wtf!

Important game 2 on SEC Network Alternate. Roll tide

I WANTED a sweep of LSU and Auburn obviously, but even if all was going swimmingly was never going to fault them for dropping an odd game vs such high ranked opponents...... so I won't pout too much.
(but man, the way this season's been going, they're all beginning to hurt.)

Want to know an ugly stat?
With today's shut out, Alabama 5 shut out loses is the most since at least 2005...Records start to get sparingly but with more digging I could find out when was the last time this has happened...I'll probably say late 90s very early 2000s.
Bad thing, season not even over..This offense is pretty brutal.

Also, along with MSU (3-8), Arkansas (3-11), and South Carolina (3-10)... Alabama doesn't have at least 1 player hitting .400

I would be pissed if I was one of the pitchers. This is the 3rd or 4th game this year the pitchers have only giving up 1 or 2 runs and the offense can't back them up.

It's frustrating for sure. Can't win without scoring.

Yep, hope this triggers a paradigm shift.
Around the middle of his tenure, after a few 6-6 seasons, Bear Bryant had to revamp everything and hone a new offense to compete with the new direction the game had gone. Bryant went on arguably the most successful part of his career and went on to dominate the SEC in the 70s and were a constant presence in the top 10 nationally.
I think around 2007, Sarah Patterson, already a veteran coach, missed the Super Six in gymnastics for only the second time in her career and hadn't won an SEC title in some years. She and her husband completely re-structured their training regiment and changed up their staff (Dana Duckworth was brought on full time around then) and had a come to Jesus with their team.
In the next 5 years they would win 2 SEC titles, 2 national championships and wouldn't finish outside of the top 3 in the nation and top 2 in the SEC.
It may be painful, but if Murphy can get through this slump and adapt this program, I hope we will be better for it.

Ugh, just left 2 on base. Girl struck out looking on a 3-2 count.
