Alabama Gymnastics kicks off January 12, 2018.

Alabama will start the year off in Tuscaloosa against the hated Georiga Gym Dogs, who will come into T-Town with new head coach Courtney Kupets.... and volunteer assistant Suzanne Yoculan who will be arriving to the arena by bicycle.

Alabama will look to beat Arkansas in the regular season for the first time since 2014.

Dana Duckworth and the Tide will seek to re-establish themselves as big girls in the country after an underwhelming campaign in 2017. Low finishes and puzzling losses in the regular season make 2018 a very important year for the program with 6 national championship (the last in 2012) and 9 SEC crowns (the last in Duckworth's first year).

Key Starters Lost: NCAA Vault Champion Katie Bailey, All-American Amanda Jetter, All-American Aja Sims and 2nd Team All-American Keely McNeer

Key Returning Starters
SO Wynter Childers
SO Shea Mahoney
SO Maddie Desch
JR Angelina Giancroce
JR Ariana Guerra
SR Mack Brannan
SR Nickie Guerrero
SR Kiana Winston

The Tide will welcome in...

-United States National Team member (and Florida flip) Bailie Key.

-2016 Rio Olympian for Belarus, Kylie Dickson

-2016 Junior Olympic National Balance Beam Champion, Alonza Klopfer

-2016 Junior Olympic National Vault Champion, Lexi Graber

-in addition, 2017 Florida transfer and United States National Team Peyton Ernst will be eligible to compete for Alabama.

The in-coming class addresses some of the main issues that plagued the past Dana Duckworth teams, last of which finished the lowest at nationals since 2007 (which promoted Sarah Patterson to shake up coaching staff). Poor balance beam performance arguably cost them the 2016 SEC Championship and vault was uncharacteristically not strong for Alabama and kept them out of contending post-season meets early.

This might be the most shocking current streak in any SEC sport.
