The senior Auburn free safety, who has missed the past four games after being suspended following the Kansas State game due to a verbal confrontation with coaches, is back at practice.

Whether or not Whitehead will return to the playing field against South Carolina on Saturday remains up in the air.

"Jermaine Whitehead has been reinstated," Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said. "He practiced with the team on Sunday, and he's got to do everything he can to earn himself back on the field."
