Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports
Florida State QB Jameis Winston has been getting a lot of flack for the way he speaks after his emotionally charged postgame speech on ESPN Monday night. Today Winston took to Twitter to defend himself...
quote:

Jameis Winston
@Jaboowins
For the people that criticize the way that I talk this is for y'all. The Florida state Seminoles are national champions! That is all.
Here's the speech in case you didn't see it...

The kid is a great football player and won an NC. That being said, he should probably stay away from the mic. This isn't a dialect difference. There is correct english and there is gutteral gibberish. Winston speaks gibberish. Defend it as 'dialect' all you want, but its just poor english.

That may have been a bad postgame speech in 1950, but not by 2014's standands.

Sir Jameis Winston Churchill!!

It's not the dialect that annoys me, it's the overhyped, overplayed emotion about everything, preacher style. He sounds like he's in church trying to get the congregation riled up...it's annoying but probably how he was raised. Attribute everything that happens (good or bad) to the mysterious "God". There are no random acts.

He spoke from his heart and praised God and spoke highly of his coach. I don't care what dialect he used.

I don't see anything wrong with what or how he said anything.

He's just hyped up after a big win. Nothing wrong with that interview. Not like they gave him time to write it out or anything. He's just running on adrenaline and saying what came to mind.

I have seen and heard far worse. Whatever you do, don't listen to the post game interview of LSU players with Gordy.

Praise to God . . . praise to his cousin in Afghan . . . praise to his coach (and son) . . . who cares about a few misplaced consonants, conjunctions, etc.? The kid's jacked!
