ORIGINAL:

Earlier on Wednesday we saw Bo Pelini take a shot at Nebraska Chancellor Harvey Perlman at his Youngstown State presser. But it doesn't stop there. On Dec. 2 Bo Pelini had a 30-minute meeting with his players at Lincoln North Star High School and expressed to them the relationship he had with Nebraska Athletic Director Shawn Eichorst. You go gurl...
quote:

“A guy like (Eichorst) who has no integrity, he doesn’t even understand what a core value is," Pelini told players. "And he hasn’t understood it from the day he got here. I saw it when I first met with the guy.

“To have core values means you have to be about something, you have to represent something, you have to have something that is important to you. He is a f------ lawyer who makes policies. That’s all he’s done since he’s been here is hire people and make policies to cover his own arse.”

“I didn't really have any relationship with the A.D.,” Pelini said. “The guy, you guys saw him (Sunday), the guy is a total p----. I mean, he is, and he's a total c---.”

“I said to (assistant coach Rick Kaczenski) at one point, I said this job is killing me. I said I don't want to die doing this job. I meant it. I was like, I don't want to have a heart attack on this job.”
This is just a piece of Pelini addressing his team. You can read all of it here.

Pelini made it clear what he thought of Nebraska fans and the Nebraska administration at the end of last year. I would have fired him then. If you have no respect for your boss or your customers, you need to find somewhere else to work.

Not at all. The AD's primary job is to please big donors and protect the revenue stream. If the donors don't like the coach for any reason at all (and Pelini certainly gave them reason not to like him) then the donors win.

Pelini's comment that he didn't really have a relationship with the AD pretty much said it all, I'm surprised he lasted as long as he did. Leading a program is not just about winning titles and teaching players, it's also about continuing to get the financial support to go on.

Bo probably is right about the AD. Lawyers in university positions are not there to win as much as minimize risk and protect themselves to stay employed.

It's unfortunate that men like the Nebraska AD are doing exactly what Bo is talking about in every aspect of our society.

Also unfortunate that some of our finer men are football coaches, not leaders of the nation.

Pelini learned everything he knows from his cat but, after reading the above, I like old Bo better than before.
