Nice double play to end it.
Florida flexing on them now. :dude:

I think most big-time SEC arms call that a changeup.
Yeah, I did not love that call... even before it didn't work out.

So many good games going at the same time right now.

My hot take...

Regionals >>> March Madness. :nana:
Lamar's offense leaves a lot to be desired. They're 252nd in run/game.
This list looks oddly familiar to the list of opponents played most.

1. tu
2. Baylor
3. TCU
4. Rice
5. Arkansas
6. SMU
7. Texas Tech
8. Lsu
9. Houston
10. Oklahoma
11. Oklahoma St
12. Missouri
13. Miss St
14. Sam Houston
15. Auburn / Kansas St / Alabama

Good news it that there are a bunch of innings left to get those runs back, come on Auburn!

True. Even if they lose, Auburn is plenty good to run off 4 in a row vs UCF, Milwaukee, and NC State (2x).

Mercer should've gotten that spot.

I tend to agree. They earned a spot.
On the plus side, Jake Marciano only threw 29 pitches. He should be able to come back Sunday.
Both USC and A&M are taking some risks today.

USC is throwing their #2 (Grant Govel) and saving the Big Ten Pitcher of the Year (Mason Edward) for Game 2. Grant is 10-2 with a 2.84 ERA, so he's no slouch. It must be nice to have 2 aces.

A&M is throwing Shane Sdao vs Lamar. He was the Friday night starter to begin the season, but struggled and lost his weekend spot by the end of April. He's been a middle reliever ever since.

In the past, I have been a semi-hater of softball. Over the last few years, I have grown to love the sport. It's similar enough to baseball, but unique in its own way. I have watched about as much college softball as college baseball this year.

Major props to MSU. Delainey Everett's performance vs OU was inspiring, so I hope their run doesn't come to an end. Not that I need a reason to root against t.u.
USC is throwing their #2 vs Texas St. We're throwing Sdao. Both know they gotta go all in for game 2. Lots of risk, arguably more so on USC's part. Texas St is a live dog, and they're regulars in regionals.

Awesome service by bigDgator for years.
I had to come out of retirement for this one.

Are you really predicting a fan base of a two seed is gonna fill up 3400 of 4000 seats? Has that ever come close to happening in real life at any NCAA regional?

The 2 largest crowds in Reckling Park history were games without Rice even playing. It was a regional 2/3 match-up between A&M and tu.

6,825 on June 14th 2014, and 6,603 on May 30 2014. The 10th most was A&M vs Lamar back in 2004 and 12th was A&M vs tu in 2014 as well.

I'd argue pretty much every game Rice hosted where A&M or tu were also there had as many or more visiting fans than Rice fans.

This is going to be fun.
That min 40 saved Michael Braswell

This is the story of 2025 A&M

2024: .335 / .418 / .498 / .916 108 wRC+
2025: .175/ .267 / .325 / .592 34 wRC+

Its across the board. I think Kent is the only player who's improved at the plate.
