He isn't an elected judge, wasn't even an active judge. They pulled him out of retirement to make that ruling.

On 10/21 the District Attorney for Cincinnati should issue an arrest warrant for Sorsby due to his illegal gambling.

"The ramifications of today's ruling are significant and could have broad impacts across college athletics, creating great concern amongst our membership. I've been consulting with our key stakeholders and have scheduled a meeting with our Conference ADs and our Executive Board this week. We are also in touch with Charlie Baker and anticipate the NCAA to appeal the order in the next 24-48 hours. We will continue to monitor and evaluate the situation."

TCU athletic director Mike Buddie and Kansas State athletic director Gene Taylor both told ESPN that there's been informal chatter in the league about schools not playing Texas Tech this year.
"We anticipate having conversations surrounding it," Buddie told ESPN. "We're all anticipating it, but this has not been formally discussed."
The Big 12 athletic directors are set to have a conference call tomorrow with commissioner Brett Yormark, according to sources, to discuss the Texas Tech situation.

Why some Louisiana schools are facing a reckoning
quote:
While some Louisiana school districts have started to right-size, others have put off the reckoning. Nearly all of Louisiana’s roughly 70 traditional school districts lost students over the past decade. Meanwhile, their employment levels often see-sawed
quote:
St. Landry Parish has seen enrollment fall as families have fewer kids, move away or opt for charters or homeschool. Yet even as the school system lost roughly a quarter of its students over the past decade, its workforce grew by nearly 20%.
quote:
Post-pandemic, the state’s public schools lost nearly 44,000 students, yet added more than 11,000 staffers
quote:
Louisiana’s population of students still learning English, many of them recent immigrants, soared over 150% from 2010 to 2021, more than any other state
quote:
local voters rejected a tax hike that would have boosted school employees’ low pay, leading frustrated bus drivers — who earn less than $25,000 annually — to stage a sickout.
quote:
Caddo Parish might offer a glimpse of this future. The school system, which includes Shreveport, shed nearly 8,500 students over the past decade. In response, officials say, they’ve taken aggressive steps to right-size the district. More than 20 schools have been shuttered since 2000, and the district had about 1,050 fewer employees in 2024 than a decade earlier.

Police eject 5 doctors from NOLA Convention Center, anti-Trump pamphlets
Posted by TigerintheNO on 6/6/26 at 9:58 am

Police removed five doctors and researchers Friday from an American Diabetes Association conference in New Orleans after they said they had handed out copies of an editorial critical of President Donald Trump.
The dustup came moments before the Trump-appointed National Institutes of Health director was set to deliver remarks to conferencegoers at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, and drew national headlines in medical outlets. None of those who were removed were arrested, according to Louisiana State Police spokesman Sgt. Ross Brennan.
"Earlier today, Louisiana State Police Troopers working a security detail at the convention center during the American Diabetes Association conference were requested by event organizers to assist with removing several individuals from the event,” Brennan said in a statement Friday.
He added that troopers “assisted by escorting the individuals from the private event” and that all left peacefully.
The ADA in a written statement Friday afternoon said it asked police to escort out the conferencegoers after they “demonstrated behavior not consistent with (the conference’s) code of conduct.”
“They were respectfully given the opportunity to cease this behavior and chose not to which is why they were escorted out,” the statement says.
Several people who were removed told the medical news service MedPage Today that the incident represented politically motivated suppression of their attempt to highlight Trump’s track record on medical research.
The article they handed out, a critique of the administration’s changes to biomedical research, was published in ADA’s flagship journal this spring and was authored by one doctor removed from Friday’s event, Steven Kahn, who is also the journal’s editor-in-chief. Kahn did not immediately respond to an email.
The NIH director, Jayanta "Jay" Bhattacharya, canceled his appearance moments before it was set to start, MedPage Today reported.
The ADA’s annual conference is set to last through Monday at the Convention Center, according to the group’s website.

Getaway Car was a robot
quote:
The getaway car was parked just outside the Marina yoga studio, idling in the January night air as the burglar made his move.
In under three minutes, the burglar was in and out of Hot 8 Yoga with an armload of activewear. He stuffed the loot in the car's trunk, hopped inside and disappeared down the street, comfortably carried away by an autonomous Waymo vehicle.
The suspect's escape turned an otherwise unremarkable break-in into a novel case for San Francisco police, who said it was likely the city's first instance of a criminal fleeing the scene in a self-driving car.
Nearly six months since the burglary, police have still not made an arrest or publicly identified any suspect, despite the fact that Waymos are outfitted with multiple high-definition cameras and require users to make accounts with their credit card numbers.
