Yesterday,the buzz going through the gym,was did you hear about assistant coach Robert Kirby leaving Georgetown and accepting the assistant coaching job at LSU? Yes, I did.

As a matter of fact, coach Kirby was to be introduce with the other two assistant coaches Shawn Forrest and Charlie Leonard that were on LSU head coach Johnny Jones staff at North Texas yesterday,but it did not happen.

Coach Jones and coach Kirby are long time friends… Johnny said he is looking to put LSU basketball back to the glory days it once had under former head coach Dale Brown who Jones played for and coached next to for so many years.

Right now, it looks like coach Jones is slowly putting the parts together with his coaching staff and he is focus on getting the right players in the basketball program.

By hiring coach Kirby this will give LSU an opportunity to get another Mr. Basketball from the state of Mississippi in 6’8 SF/P McDonald All-American Devonta Pollard from Kemper County HS to take look at the LSU basketball program. XOFan.com has learned that Devonta has one official visit left to take. Will LSU get his final official visit, or will he pick from the schools currently on his list?

Coach Kirby is a master recruiter. He recruited Pollard while at Georgetown and Mississippi State and the Pollard family knows him well… Coach Kirby is reason enough why Devonta and his family should consider looking at LSU.

XOFan.com got word on the same day we broke the story that Devonta would decide on which school he would sign with, that he was going to cut two schools from his list. So far,we have not heard who got cut from his list.The schools on his list now are Alabama,Georgetown,Missouri and Texas.
