| Outplayed Javan Felix in title game who is headed to Texas. LSU coach doesn't believe in recruiting. LSU lost Ricardo Gathers to Baylor as well. If you take Hickey I don't see why there's no interest in Wagner. Probably a better fit for Hogs right now. On the small side and LSU has enough of those with Hickey and Stringer LSU has 3 schollies to give and rumors of more but for some reason LSU still has trouble filling out a roster for hoops Reply Back to Top |
| Wagner is a great high school player, maybe the best high school player in Louisiana. How that translates to college is unknown, because he does have size limitations. He's probably the size of Andre Stringer, or smaller. No big offers, except Arkansas. Really expected him to go La. Tech/Middle Tennessee type school. He could fit in well in Anderson's system. ETA: The Louisiana Mr. Basketball award is voted on by sportswriters to name the best high school player for that year. It is not based on recruiting rankings, or projections at the next level. | Thanks for the input. I was wondering the same about Wagner. I know that Alex Peabody is a solid program and has been for a while. Looks like Anderson was able to get two "prospects" out of Louisiana this year. Qualls was not on many Recruiting Service or Major Teams radar, but he seems to have had a good senior season at Huntington and elevated his stock a good bit. I agree that this won't necessarily guarentee sucess at the next level, but I'm hopeful. Reply Back to Top |
quote: Yah it's been a bit of a crapshoot recently if these guys go on to be good in college or not. 2011 - Ricardo Gathers (TBD - but probably really good) 2010 - Markel Brown (Decent starter at OK ST, nothing special, 10.5 ppg in 31+ min this year) 2009 - Joevoskie Mitchell (Your best guess is mine what happened to him) 2007/8 - Greg Monroe (No intro needed) Reply Back to Top |
quote: Lasted about 1 semester in junior college. I hear he is a pretty bad-ass dominoes player in Zwolle now. Also, occasionally kicks arse at dice. Reply Back to Top |
| Wagner can play. He is a little on the smaller size but kid is a winner. He is as good or better than any of the gaurds LSU currently has. Not quite sure what LSU is looking for. Let Felix go with out much fight, Wagner as well, Put up a good fight for Gathers but from what I saw him do in the state championship appears to be quite over-rated doesn't play hard and is very lazy didn't hustle back on defense and appeared to being getting down on his teammates quite a bit, morgan looks to be a solid pick up. Also, let Zay Jackson go to murray st without a fight as well as the afore mentioned markel brown. Not sure what they are looking for down there. Reply Back to Top |
| I'm not a big historian on LA hs basketball but has anyone been as good and consistent as Zwolle has? They've been virtually dominant for 2 decades at least it seems. When I still lived in LA in 7th grad I went to a Class B school in Frankilin Parish(Ward III) and they got obliterated by Zwolle as did everyone else it seemed. What is the story behind that program, if you have an idea? Thanks. Reply Back to Top Refresh |
