| re: Alabama to offer 4 year Scholarships This whole issue is childish. Nothing but smoke and mirrors, semantics. Reply Back to Top |

Posted by TTsTowel on 2/28 at 5:23 pm to TreyAnastasio But Alabama fans (not all) told me that this was just some cheap ploy for Cheezdick and Auburn. Reply Back to Top |
| So, did this rule just continue to allow 4 year scholarships, or does it require all scholarships to be 4 year scholarships? Reply Back to Top |
quote: I think it just allows them. Reply Back to Top |
quote: Oh, well then big hoopdy doo. The only ones I'd see Saban having a problem giving 4 year scholarships to is kickers. The rest of the trouble makers and lazy asses can either be let go due to academics, breaking team rules, or encouragement to transfer in most cases. quote: I think it's an either/or scenario... I just hope Saban is straight forward with recruits that he offers 4 year schollys to. It would suck if he decided not to re-new a player's scholly when that player was told he would have a 4 year scholly, not a 1 year. Reply Back to Top |

| How does Bams doing it make it not a recruiting ploy? Reply Back to Top |
quote: It wasn't really a ploy when telling the truth is it? I don't know just my opinion. I could be wrong it happened once before. Reply Back to Top |
| Maybe ploy is too strong, but it's a recruiting tool. I've never meant ploy to mean someone is being misled. No one is getting hoodwinked. This post was edited on 2/28 at 6:39 pm Reply Back to Top |
quote: Doesn't have to, you just tell a kid it doesn't look like he'll ever play and most want to transfer and can easily get a scholarship somewhere else. Exception being kickers. This post was edited on 2/28 at 6:04 pm Reply Back to Top |
quote: A bit, yeah. Now we can just morph it to the "But after he had to be dragged kicking and screaming to give you the 4-year opportunity, can you really trust him? REALLY?" pitch. Reply Back to Top |

Posted by TTsTowel on 2/28 at 6:14 pm to TreyAnastasio quote: Of course, but as you have already seen, it's working. Seeing Saban change his mind about it definitely shows that Chizik made him force his hand. It gave Auburn an advantage with some prospects, but now not so much. Saban going to 4 year schollies evened up the playing field. I still don't see it changing much of Alabama's methods or success, although it COULD. Reply Back to Top |
quote: True, unless the player is like Drew Cole... Reply Back to Top |
| Or Tyler Love Reply Back to Top |
quote: If they wanted Tyler Love gone he would be, and I've heard that may happen soon. Just think, you tell a kid he'll probably never play and put him on scout team and make him run while the rest of the team practices, he'll want to leave. Very easy to encourage players to leave. Reply Back to Top |
quote: This is exactly true. He should have just said something like, "Auburn was starting to gain a competitive advantage. We were out Chizzed, so even though I don't like it, we had to change." Reply Back to Top |
| The Bama sheep on here are simply amazing. All the Gumps were against four year schollies, but have suddenly changed their minds? All because their worshipped one decided he had to offer them to keep up with AU? I sure hope Saban doesn't start offering them Kool-Aid. Think for yourself Gumps. Are they good or bad? Don't say they are a bad idea, then change your mind because Bama got caught with their pants down by not offering them and now reversed course. Reply Back to Top Refresh |
