@NIckPerry_27: Great hire.. Avery Johnson won a NBA championship as a player and was NBA coach of year. Who else to help these guys get back to winning!!

It brings an excitement to our program and that's what we need initially. After he puts together a staff, I'll have a better idea of what I think of the hire, but right now I think this was the best possible hire we could make after the Marshall ordeal.

@CecilHurt: No idea how Avery Johnson will do in W-L's, but he will say more to the media in his first 15 minutes than UA hoops has done in 6 years.

I know this is sad, but I really don't know too much about him. I know he was the NBA coach of the year, but exactly how good is this hire in comparison?

So we get a commitment from a 5-star OT yesterday and today we hire Avery Johnson?

I'd watch a sitcom about Nick Saban and Avery Johnson managing two athletic programs at the same school.

Why? Because he had a unsuccessful stint with the arguably the most dysfunctional FO in the NBA. He was way more successful in the NBA than Cal or Pitino could have dreamed of.

He was successful with Dirk in his prime. Just kind of hard to be excited about someone who you haven't seen recruit. Hope he does great. Not like im unhappy though. At least I get to see a coach show some emotion.

IIRC even opposing fans thought hiring Grant was good. So if they think this is a flop then we must be Tourney bound
