This guy has got to go.
She was often confined for hours to her room, where she was monitored by a video camera. The reason: The Harrises believed the girls were possessed by demons and could communicate telepathically, Goldsborough said. Harris and his wife once hired specialists to perform an "exorcism" on the two sisters while she waited outside the house with the boys, she said.

The whole Arkansas legislature is a shitshow. So much for the GOP majority.

This one is the latest and his story is changing all the time. He has now lawyerd up and hired a PR firm.
One more nugget, he may have been cashing the checks for the kids after he gave them away.

I feel for anyone that left their children at his preschool.

I can't imagine why a child with abuse/neglect issues wouldn't flourish under the care he provided for them. Sounds like a really healing, therapeutic environment.
I know when I'm feeling down and depressed, it does me a lot of good if someone accuses me of being possessed by demons which are the root of all our problems.

Read the title and thought it would be about Cotton, senator from Arkansas and self appointed Secretary of State.
He's a veteran so I think he's scheduled to take command of the Pentagon next week.

Its a sad story. Poor kids have been given a raw deal in life, then get put in a house with a couple of super-religious adults who simply don't have the tools to properly care for them, or to understand the attachment issues in terms that don't include "demons".
No way in hell that guy should be making laws for the state. Recall him, resign him, etc.

That nut job and his bat shite crazy wife have no business adopting or caring for children. Let them screw up their biological brats and leave the others to be cared for elsewhere.
And while I'm on it, is West Fork that fricked up to be electing a dumbass like this to represent them in Little Rock?

The Arkansas Times is one of the most left biased piece of shite rags out there (although I do like their restraunt reviews.) Consider that while reading any article from them.
I'm not saying what the Harris's did was 'right' (and I severely doubt they thought the young girl would get raped, that is heinous), but to think the DHS is totally innocent in this deal is to be totally naive. They certainly are trying to cover their (DHS) arse by saying it's 'not our policy'... what kind of bullshite reply is that. 'Policy' is not what is under question here, it's 'what did you tell them.'
There have been witnesses that have spoken against DHS in this matter, but it seems that nobody wants to pay any attention to that.
Too many horror stories about DHS over the years to blindly accept their 'not our policy' statement.

They weren't covering for DHS, from the article:
But regardless of the facts of this particular case, DHS is often culpable in failed adoptions, she said.
"DHS has a long history of avoiding, lying, or otherwise hiding kids' behaviors in attempts to place children quickly. There are far too few foster parents, and children often end up having to stay at the DHS overnight with a worker, sometimes for several days on end because there are no placement options. They get desperate. It is not OK, but I understand. Some adoption specialists do a hell of a job. The ones that are good, that is their life." Others, she said, don't care.

Legally, DHS is prevented from commenting on anything regarding adoption proceedings. It's not just a "policy." It's supposed to protect kids.
But the article does not exonerate them - they raise some very good questions about how DHS is run. Most of the staff involved with the case were against the adoption, but appeared to get pressure from a DHS director friendly with Harris and didn't truly speak against the adoption in front of the judge.

Their editorials are left-leaning, but their reporting is impeccable. They're also the only major statewide print outlet in Arkansas that has all their content on the Web.

The Times is the only paper that actually does any investigating in Arkansas. Sad that people don't take them seriously because they hate Max Brantley.
