Well stated. And painfully correct.

I remember writing essays defending liberalism when 1) I was a liberal and 2) it was politically a 'bad' thing to be. All of the sudden we're in a chapter of American history wherein you're either a liberal or a shameless sociopath. Now it should be obvious to everyone that most liberals are every bit as ignorant and preposterous as our fathers thought them to be.

I believe he's an atheist but doesn't like the label that comes with it. I'm praying for his soul though, because I know one day he'll need a miracle and come to know the Savior Jesus Christ. I just hope it comes before the rapture. Every knee shall bow.

Christians don't persecute gays, because if you think about it logically there's no such thing. It all comes down to them making the choice to defy God and lay with the same gender. God doesn't make people gay, so we shouldn't condone their actions by giving it legitimacy.

We pray for them and hope they will one day choose to obey Him.

So, I'm not stepping into a religious conversation. However, from a scientific perspective, I don't think people are born gay. It is too large a portion of the population to be a genetic oddity. And, even if it were, it is inherently a genetic trait that wouldn't be passed along because its carriers would be significantly less likely to procreate. As organisms, we don't change unless there is a necessity and it benefits us as a species. A trait that restricts reproduction is the furthest thing from that, so people wouldn't be born gay as advancement. Likewise, if it had always been a condition/identity/preference, it would have been naturally pruned from the gene pool as it wasn't passed along as often as heterosexual tendencies.

That being said, I think its such a deep subconscious identity that it is near, or entirely, impossible to change. So it really doesn't matter if they are born gay or simply are, they likely can't change it either way.

Not if overpopulation will hurt us as a species (and it will). I fully believe the increasing number of gays is a direct result of the exponentially increasing population. Studies of rats in captivity have shown increasing homosexual traits when the rat population became overcrowded. No different for us.

Genes get passed, true. But alleles are the exact same gene expressed differently. This is why identical twins are different in certain ways. so it's not as simple as you make it out to be.

And I was just fricking around earlier but nobody took the bait. :-/

Christianity is a belief . A belief in the Bible , that it is Divinely inspired by God, that it shows what was before and what is to come. The Bible gives us the law. But more than that it gives us a pattern to live by. And that pattern was shown to us by the greatest carpenter of all Jesus Christ. And when he was asked the greatest comand He said, love God with all your heart and all your mind. And the second is love your neighbor as your self.
Over the last 2000 years many bad things have been done in the name of Christianity but those actions are not the teachings of Jesus.

In parts of Africa, Christians kill gays as well. Overall, Christianity is larger and older so I think it wins. BUT what folks need to keep in mind is that CULTURE has far more influence on treating gays and others violently than religion.

Westboro would never do what some do in other parts of the world and would likely be horrified by it even though their views are nasty. THAT IS CULTURE.

No... Again, their government kills them. Not the church.

Even if it was the church.... The global Chritians would condemn it. The Muslim world as a whole doesn't condemn it. We have some allies in Jordan, but you don't hear an uproar over it.
