Do you think females should be assigned to combat units?
Do you think US will ever have women fighting on the front lines?
Spec Ops?

Women can't fight on the front lines? I seriously didn't know. I figured with equals rights came equal responsibility.

Yes.
Someone has to keep the barracks clean and those brave men fed.

Here's a novel idea, let whoever can pass the physical tests do what they want.

I support that 100%
Edit: if the physical test are the same for both genders

Here's where good ol' Sturm gets all politically incorrect and pissess off a lot of sthensthitive people. (I know: shocker!)
I don't know if it's still this way or not, but when I was in the Army it was like this: The females of the infantry went on bivouac with the males. Wore the same clothes. Carried the same rucks. Trained with the same weapons. Whole nine yards. (For those who don't know bivouac can last several weeks, during which time everyone stays in the field. You eat, sleep, shite in the field. No one leaves until the exercise is over). Except the women. Every 3 days the busses would show up and all the females would get on them. They'd ride back to base, take showers, and return. The rest of us were left to scrub our nuts with pine cones.
Why did the women get to shower every 3 days? I haven't done the research but I was told that if an adult female doesn't wash effectively circa every 3 days then her junk will start to smell so strongly that it will bother not only her but those around her. MOREOVER: If a substantial group of them didn't bathe effectively circa every 5 - 7 days then their collective scent would be detectable at a distance by enemy combatants.
There were experiments in place re the logistics of providing ample field baths for female fighters.

With the modern delineated battlefield, women have already served on the front lines.
As has been mentioned, standards should be the same and not lowered to fit an agenda. Some chicks kick arse at the military thing; most however, do not.

Why do women wear perfume and makeup? Because they're ugly and they stink.

I have a friend who was in EOD in the national guard. She's got pics from Iraq of her lighting frickers up with a Humvee mounted machine gun and one awesome shot when an IOD she was disarming exploded on her. It looks straight out of a movie or something, the visual is amazing but it totally fricked her leg up. She had to disarm another bomb with her leg bleeding before her buddies could come get here.
Some women definitely couldn't hack it in combat but I know one who had no fricking problem with it.

I bet she's a bull dyke.
Not saying that as a slight, that's exactly where those women should be.

frick ... that this question is even being asked pisses me off.
I got into it with Jackie Collins and Larry King when she was promoting her book Hollywood Wives 30 years ago over this same shite.
Yes ... women's roles should be expanded to concubine status .... blow jobs and poon. They make decent pilots ....and nurses. After that, frick no. Keep them the frick away from the front line.
Have you ever smelled a menstrating woman in hot weather who has been in the field for a couple of weeks without a shower? Dropping bloody rags along the way like bread crumbs. Forget the smell ... the bitching and special needs is even worse.
frick no. Just frick no.

There are certain jobs that will never be assigned to women.
Example: Military adviser in Saudi Arabia
The fact of the matter is that the life of an Infantryman is really hard on both the body and the mind of the individual.
How many Infantrymen wearing the rank of LTC or above or MSG or above have you seen that don't look significantly older than they actually are.
Now imagine a woman going through that same process.
The simple fact is that women have a shorter shelf life than men when it comes to certain types of occupations. The military is one of them.
The fact that they tend to live longer overall is irrelevant.

I served 4 years in Army logistics, in companies and units with a high ratio of women. I had great female and male soldiers. My answers:
No.
Yes, and it will degrade our front line fighting ability.

It will happen one day.

I've heard this as a barracks tale, but in the 30 days we were at NTC in the bush, this never happened.
