2006 South Carolina @ UF. One of the most heartbreaking Gamecock losses in my lifetime.

That 93 yard Tyson browning screen pass was one of my favorites plays from that era

I remember that play. Then right after it everyone was chanting LSU.

2003 UGA vs LSU in Baton Rouge. LSU won 17-10 in a slobber knocker that knocked David Greene & David Pollack outta the game. Greene passed for 314 yds but only had 1 td & 2 int.'s. Billy Bennett the SEC's all time 2nd leading scorer behind former UGA kicker Blair Walsh missed 3 of 4 FG's during the game.....

quote:
Mauck ended up hitting Green instead of star receiver Michael Clayton on a 34-yard touchdown pass with 1:22 left that gave LSU (No. 7 ESPN/USA Today, No. 10 AP) a 17-10 victory over Georgia (No. 7 ESPN/USA Today, No. 7 AP) on Saturday.

"Skyler was actually supposed to pick for Mike's guy," Mauck said. "Skyler ran past him and I saw him out of the corner of my eye. I just threw it up and he made a great play."

Course LSU smoked us in the SECCG later in the year. Great game & only my 2nd trip to Tiger Stadium. Great time, great fans & had a blast...

The all time best day game in Tiger Stadium. After UGA scored that last TD..the entire stadium erupted in probably one of the loudest LSU chants I've ever heard. That was my first game in Tiger Stadium as a freshman in high school..still get chills

Yeah the only thing that rivals that pop was when they announced that USC lost during the 07 Florida game

I got soaked head to toe in coke/water/bourbon just for Lee to throw another INT

That block though is on my top 3 loudest moments of all time in TS

IIRC it was around the start of the fourth quarter. The PA announced it, and the place exploded. Then the band start playing pregame and everyone lost their shite.

Never heard a blocked kick in a loss ever eulogized so much as this.

The only one that comes to my young mind is Auburn-LSU 2007
I remember a lot from that night, being only 8 at the time.
The last second touchdown was and probably still is one of my all time favorite plays.
But LSU - Kentucky 2007 was also another one I loved, even though we lost, it was really fun to watch.

1990 Alabama-Tennessee

Tennessee was undefeated and ranked #3. Stallings' first year, lost the first three games, including the opener to Southern Miss. Lots of Bama fans were starting to think that the Stallings hire was a huge mistake. This ended up being a turning point in the season and Stallings' career, and he won the NC two years later.

5OT including a 4th and 19 conversion in the 3rd OT by the Casey Clausen and the Vols. Say what you want about him, but that guy was something like 9-1 on the road in the SEC, that's tough. #roadwarrior

True. Sorta like the missed FGs you all eulogized over and over ad nauseum in a loss in November 2011.

I remember a ton of really good Auburn and Florida battles over the late 90's and early 2000's that don't get talked a lot around here since they don't play much anymore.

Also all the good TN Arky games from that time.

98, 99, 02 were all really good ones.

2003 Tennessee @ Auburn was a great game and one of my favorite road trips I've been on even though we came up short.

One of the worst games I've ever been to was the 05 TN-Bama game...

[quote]
2004: Jason Campbell led a drive that ended in a last minute TD after being shut down by Saban all game. Extra point was missed, but called back for personal foul since the jumper trying to block it landed on the LS.

The only time I've EVER seen that call made. And naturally it happened to us. What's a riot is that the do-over re-kick XP by Auburn after the penalty was also missed, but called good by the officials..

[quote]
2007: Auburn nearly shocked the future national champs after jumping out to a big lead in Baton Rouge. Matt Flynn threw a last second (literally) TD to win the game 26-21 after one of the worst clock management jobs in college football history.

Wrong on two counts:
(1) It was NOT a "last-second" TD. Byrd caught the pass with 4 seconds left in the left corner of the NEZ. The stadium clock operator mistakenly ran off the clock to 0:00, and later put back 3 seconds, which the officials concurred.

LSU then kicked off to Auburn and Auburn did not even try any razzle dazzle laterals on the return, running out the clock.

(2) That TD pass had nothing at all do with "clock management." Miles was going to have Flynn spike the ball and kick the FG, but Byrd convinced Miles to let Flynn try one pass to the end zone and then kick the FG if it was incomplete.
There were 17 seconds left on the play when LSU broke the huddle, but with LSU coaches frantically calling for Flynn to snap the ball, for whatever reason, Flynn stood behind center and hesitated like 6 seconds before calling for the snap. Thus, when Byrd caught the ball with 4 seconds left, it was closer than it should have been to 0.

BTW, on the sidelines Miles told Flynn to throw the ball over the shoulder to the back of the end zone to avoid an INT, and to leave time for a possible FG.
Flynn only did the first part of that. It was a perfect throw; but he could have avoided the time issue had he snapped the ball sooner instead of waiting so long. That was all on Flynn.

How that was the 'worst clock management' doesn't make any sense at all, since it was FLYNN who snapped and threw the ball so late.

Sour grapes I guess.....

07 Tennessee-Kentucky is extremely underrated. Those OT's were crazy. I think I had 5 heart attacks during that game.

The score was 21-20. Call timeout, kick field goal, game over. There is no difference between 26-21 and 23-21. The play worked but was completely unnecessary. It was extremely poor clock management because there was no reason to take the risk of a throw to the end zone.
