There are some very recent versions of "3rd and Chavis" that everybody already knows about and what not.
But I was wondering if you two fanbases could elaborate on maybe lesser known examples? Im curious to see if it's a habit he developed at Tennessee or just something that recently manifested in his playcalling.

Definitely developed at Tennessee. Hence the UT fansite "3rdandChavis.com"

you mean list examples of Chavis' Defenses totally shitting the bed in crucial moments? Just go look at almost every game LSU lost while he was here.

"3rd and Chavis" never really materialized at LSU. His failure here was the 2 minute drill.

Yep, lucky y'all go rid if him. Damn shame when you can't win all your games when your offense sucks.

Alabama, Clemson 2012
Georgia, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Alabama 2nd half 2013
Miss State, Notre Dame, Alabama last drive 2014

How did you neglect to mention Alabama 2014?

He sucked pretty hard at that at Tennessee too, it was called the "Mustang" defense, it's a prevent defense that prevented us from winning.

I still think Clemson and Georgia are by far the worse of any of these.

We were so damn close to losing the Ole Miss game too. Bo Wallace easily worked down the field during his last drive.
Thankfully, Freeze decided to go for the TD instead of the fieldgoal.

We had 10 defensive collapses under Chavis.

The 2001 Georgia game sums it up nicely.
I will say that while Chavis is a great DC, his idea of playing not to lose rather than playing to win drove both the UT and LSU fanbases crazy.
I also forgot to mention the 2001 SECCG. Chavis had an NFL defense out there and got completely exposed by a backup QB running a draw every other play.

This. His prevent defense was pathetic.

What was appalling to me was how excited people were in BR about his hire at LSU.
