The "Bama bump" probably really does exist in some cases.
Recruiting services trust Saban's evaluation over their own and will often bump up a lower ranked recruit accordingly.
Robert Lester is a good example. 2* prior to committing to Alabama and becoming a 4*. Saban was right on his evaluation there, while many thought he was only offering Lester to secure Julio Jones.

Mostly because everybody is always fixated on Bama in general.

Because if they're coming to Alabama, they're obviously better than everyone else's players.
Duh.

Because the REC owns all of the recruiting sites. Obvious answer is obvious.

Bama fans generate tons of subscriptions, so the recruiting sites want to appeal to what is probably their biggest fanbase.
Not to mention Saban is pumping players into the draft, so they probably just trust his opinion.

Always thought this had to do with the original owner of rivals.com being a Bama fan. So if bama gotbtheir commitment, then they magically gained stars.
That said, idgaf.

Usually there are no stars left to gain. But they lose stars when "Processed".

Because if they didnt give the players the Bama bump they wouldnt play as hard on the field and Saban wouldnt have been able to win 3 National Championships at Alabama.

Why do people say recruits gain Escalades when they commit to bama?
Because the Bammer boosters buy them for the recruits.

A lot of highly rated recruits gain stars by committing to anyone.
