This is OT but I figure I'm in good hands here

I have some free time (2 weeks) coming up soon. I don't want to go far, just somewhere in state. I live in South Florida but I haven't really been to many places in FL for vacations. Any suggestions?

I prefer more outdoors, quiet activities/places over luxury, crowded South Beach-type places.

ETA: I realize that some of your favorite places may be more in line with South Beach. That's cool too...just interested in places I've never been and I'm curious where FL natives liked going.

The Pinellas County area here in central west coast ...or the east coast in the Ft Pierce area and a little bit south.

When I grew up in FL, McCarthur State Park is still a special place for me. Wasn't crowded much and it was a great to chill out. Still try to go everytime I'm back in S. Florida

If you like freshwater fishing the Dunnellon area is hard to beat. Some monster bass there, shellcrackers too.

Thank you!! I think I'll pass on the Erie, PA tip These are the ones I found nice pics of. Looks like you have to rent a house for Gasparilla Island though?

Cape San Blas

Dunnellon

MacArthur Park

Anna Maria Island

Pinellas County Coast
