FWIW, if I were listening and heard her say jigaboo, if have to look it up before I knew it was a racist term.

ETA: n****r was the the only racist slur I knew growing up. That and the "monkey" but that's only because of Alvin Garret and Howard Cossel (Garret went to my alma mater)

However in the degrees of insult, is this par with the N word or more on the lines of "colored" being old fashioned, out dated and considered pejorative?
In other words, did she mean to insult, or just using jargon consistent with her upbringing?
Also, when you hear someone talk about "getting jiggy with it" does this refer to the same term?
