Athletes who may not qualify often double sign with JUCOs. It doesn't guarantee he won't or even mean it's likely, just that it's possible and he will have an option if he doesn't. There are probably multiple kids in your class who did the same.

A lot of kids goof off their first couple of years and only get serious once they see that they can go to college.

It is a backup in case he doesn't qualify. He still has some time, this isn't over yet.

The better part of MSU's class each signed with a JUCO. That doesn't mean they're going to JUCO.

Nobody coulda been more than a frick up than me my freshman year. Skipped class nearly everyday. Smoked pot non stop. Didn't give a frick. Had a .9 gpa end of freshman year. All Ds and an F. Then just started showing up for classes. Still didn't really do shite and made all As and Bs the rest of my high school career to end with a 3.3gpa. I mean I know it's difficult to some, but as long as I was there halfway listening, high school was the easiest thing in the world to me. I also went to a magnet school in cobb county. One of the best school systems in georgia.

You can't compare yourself to them though. I'll go ahead and guess that your parents are still together, make decent money, and you have a pretty good head on your shoulders judging by the school you went to. These kids don't usually have those luxuries. They don't get it no matter how many times you beat it into their head. And their environment is usually a place that holds people down instead of picking them up.
