His mind was pretty much made up Nov. 1.

Patterson and his family were in attendance for the Rebels’ 35-31 loss to Auburn. In the game, the Rebels not only saw their national title hopes dashed, but star wide receiver Laquon Treadwell suffered a season-ending leg injury in the final minutes.

The response afterwards, however, wasn’t what Patterson was expecting.

“After that game, they lost their perfect season, they lost their best player,” he said. “In the office afterwards, (Ole Miss head) coach (Hugh) Freeze and the whole staff were calm. They were calm and collected. They were more worried about Treadwell than losing the game. That kind of expressed to me what kind of people they are.”

“The biggest thing that happened for us as a family was going to the Auburn game,” Shea’s father, Sean, said. “We got to see how excited they were before the game and what was on the line. Then Ole Miss loses their best player and national championship hopes on a freakish play and we got the inside perspective of how they reacted to it the next day. We just got to see how close they are to one another. We said if this is the worst day for Ole Miss and possibly their modern-day history, then we want to be a part of it. Other places, they would have focused more on what the loss meant. But at Ole Miss, the focus was on their compassion for Laquon Treadwell and his well-being. It was amazing to see up close.”

Why would you quote that long arse passage and then embolden the parts you wanted posters to read? Doesn't it make sense to just quote the bold parts?

Just wondering.

Does Shea's father really don't think the coaches knew who their audience was?

Good for him. Seems like a fairly dumb reason to pick a school, but whatever floats his boat.

Hopefully THEY will be a part of many more bad days in Ole Miss's modern day history.

He was just excited they were ready to talk money so soon after losing their national title.

Cool story.

I'm sure no other school's coaching staff would have showed compassion toward their injured star player after a loss. Ole Miss is truly special and unique in this regard.

Congrats on the #huge #get

Congrats Ole Piss and Shea! You really have perfected losing and being good at it to the point weaker players actually want to be part of losses with you.

Did he see their final record or did he go into a coma? They NEVER had a shot at a title.

And they probably lose because the hire shite coaches who only get jobs because their brother can ball

LOL, the day I get angry about a recruit not choosing LSU is the day I take a step back and reevaluate some things.

#boredatwork is more like it. Anyway, it's truly an inane, pointless story that wouldn't have even been shared had Shea chosen USC or LSU. Like most post hoc "this is when I knew!" recruiting stories, it sounds nice enough but is ultimately meaningless. Not mad at all about Shea's decision ... not even mad at this thread, you have every reason to be excited ... but the story itself is deserving of the wank motion.
