These guys did.

https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/sec-football/ranking-top-returning-wrs-2015/

quote:

1. Pharoh Cooper, South Carolina: The SEC’s second-leading receiver in 2014 with 1,136 yards, “the other Cooper” just makes plays. His sophomore season was somewhat of a surprise, but he’s a legitimate star. The Gamecocks have major concerns at quarterback, but Steve Spurrier can get Cooper the ball in a number of different ways. The 5-foot-11 receiver has completed 7 of 11 passes for three touchdowns and no interceptions on his career, and also has run for 402 yards on just 47 carries. If all else fails, Spurrier should just stick Cooper behind center and give him some options.

2. Duke Williams, Auburn
3. Demarcus Robinson, Florida
4. Laquon Treadwell, Ole Miss
5. De’Runnya Wilson, Mississippi State
6. Josh Reynolds, Texas A&M
7. Travin Dural, LSU

Looks good to me. Several people are saying things about Treadwell or Duke, so let's compare.

Pharoh Cooper, WR SC
69 receptions
1136 yards
16.5 avg
85 long
9 TD's

D'haquille Williams, WR AUB
45 receptions
730 yards
16.2 avg
62 long
5 TD's

Laquon Treadwell, WR MISS
48 receptions
632 yards
13.2 avg
63 long
5 TD's

What argument could be made for Treadwell or Duke over Cooper in the rankings...other than feelings or homerism?

I guess it's a wait and see approach with Treadwell considering how gruesome his injury was. If he didn't break his leg last season he would #1 without a doubt. Cooper is really good though.

He should be two behind Cooper IMO. Treadwell is incredibly gifted and still isn't a finished product, but his numbers still don't jump out like they should after you watch him play. 630 yards and 5 TDs in 9 games in an offense that threw it quite a bit.

He's got all the physical tools and has moments where he looks like a top 10 pick but I still think he has a lot of room to grow

Treadwell is coming off a major lower leg injury... not a stretch to think he won't be 100% anytime soon.

He's also a major blocking receiver. Teams focus all on Quon and it opened up Cody Core and Evan Engram this season.

Nothing is known yet, and we won't have an idea until after spring camp or maybe even as late as fall camp. There are 4 guys who have at least a marginal shot.

Leading QB Candidate
RS Soph Connor Mitch - Pro Style

Other Candidates
RS Soph - Perry Orth - Dual Threat

RS Jr - Brendan Nosovitch - Dual Threat (was moved to TE last season to add depth, but could move back to QB.)

RS Fr - Michael Scarnecchia - Pro Style

FR - Lorenzo Nunez - Dual Threat

Mitch will be going into his 3rd Spring Practice as he was an EE out of HS, and he was the highest rated out of HS in the group, so that's why I think he's the leading candidate. He also set a bunch of NC HS QB records for passing yards in a game, TD's in a game, completions, etc....

Great WRs without a QB means nothing.

But for some reason, the coaches really don't seem that high on him.

... a crap shoot. Total roll of the dice.

Who knows. Could end-up being any one of five guys.

Me personally, I like Scarnecchia. But we're going to be hearing Orth and Nunez' name a lot in the preseason pundit talk.

Scarnecchia is the sleeper - Spurrier's secret weapon. At 6'4" 218 with a cannon for an arm and athletic for his size - Spurrier and Mangus both like him a lot. But he'll only be a RS Freshman this season so, who knows.

I'd have Treadwell at 1, then either Cooper or Duke at 2/3.

Pretty solid list. I'd have Treadwell and Williams 1,2 but overall that's a good ranking.
