Felt bad for the bball team last night . They scratched and clawed themselves back into the game with USCE with a chance to win or at least tie the game at the end of regulation. There was plenty of time on the clock, but AG calls a timeout with 11 seconds to call a "play" and the last shot ends up being a wing and a prayer shot.

This seems to be a common theme. I applaud CAG for the job he has done with this team so far this year, but maybe the coaches should study Butler or Wichita State or someone who actually has a good plan to win this type of game. What Bama is doing isn't working.

You didn't like the dribble the ball at half court for 10 seconds and then throw up a contested 3 play? I thought it was genius.

Yea, he is not very good at drawing things up in pressure situations. The fact that he ran a play that was best suited for Tarrant (while Tarrant was fouled out) and didn't adjust to the fact that Coleman was running the point is just something an SEC head coach can't do in that situation.

Just awful.

I liked waiting to call time out as well.

At least we didn't wait until the 3 second mark like the NCAA game with Creighton a few years ago. Improvement.

Do you also feel bad they shot 50% from the free throw line in the first half also?

And the rebounding. My gawd the rebounding.

But, with all that, they fought back and had a chance at the end. So that is improvement from past years.

Were the Game cocks wearing pajama bottoms last night? Hideous.

Winning on the road is tough for any team. Even Kentucky struggled against A&M.

The final 11 seconds of that game was HS.

First time I've been on the anti-Grant bandwagon.

Yep, agree. Still a tough way to lose (again).

Definitely put a dent in Alabama's bubble hopes.

Eh, not that big a blip. Tough loss, but USCe will be a Top 75 RPI team. Would have been a nice addition to the resume but nowhere near a killer. We need to get to the last 10 SEC games at 4-4 and we will be in good shape.

We don't have any giant wins but we don't have any bad losses either. You can find good wins down the stretch, you can't get rid of bad losses.

That has nothing to do with the way the last 22s played out.

If he would have drawn up a play and the players had a shot at winning or tying the game, I would be ok with how the game played out. As it was, he gave them no shot at all. Once again, he failed his team.

The worst part of the entire scenario was that he called a TO with his best driver of the basketball half way down the lane in perfect position to get a layup, get fouled , or both. Hell, that's the type spot you call a TO to get your team into to!

At first I thought this thread read: "Anthony Grant's last days."

I was getting a little excited. Stealing Bruce Pearl from Auburn was going to be next.

I highly doubt this is true... especially if the last play is what put you there..

Most of you are basketball ignorant and think Grant called a play to run out the clock and shoot a last second shot...

Coleman got timid after he was matched up against a bigger player and instead of driving to the basket for a possible dish to a cutter, which he does well, he hesitated too much and left us with a bad shot.. Go ahead and bash Grant about the missed FTs and Obosahan's over the back call or Tarrant fouling out while you're at it.

What about the quick TO with Obosahan half way down the lane on his drive? Also, you're seriously gonna have a 5'10" guard drive the lane for the last shot...a freshman reserve 5'10" guard?..WTF?

If you want to drive the lane, you get your best ball driver, Obosahan to do it....kinda like he was doing when CAG called the fricking TO!

My basketball IQ is just fine. Justin Coleman is a true freshman who hasn't played in a critical moment of a big game in college (led alone on the road or against a good defensive team). Grant knew this. Grant SHOULD have known that there was a high probability Coleman would have his route disrupted because (a) hes inexperienced (b) hes little and (c) USCe plays great on ball defense and defense out of timeouts.

THEREFORE, the play call should not have been run through Justin Coleman. That is pretty simple. I could (and did) predict how that play would end if Coleman caught the ball 3-point line extended and was the focal point of the play.

This is Grant's fault, not a true freshman's.

We were talking about Grant earlier in thread about Pearl as an aside.

I think we jinxed him, because we all were agreeing they had got so much better at closing the game.

Do you think his seat is getting hotter, or is this just a blip if the team does well going forward?
