frick what The Strip has become.

That was one of my all-time favorite jobs in college, and the people who work there are some of the kindest people I've ever met.

What did the University do? Do they own the land?

I don't get it. They just built that new one on Macfarland. Are they gonna buy a new place for the locker room?

That land is owned by a Butler, AL attorney Mark Ezell.

Hell, it's in the linked article in the OP -

quote:

A spokesman for CVS said Tuesday that national pharmacy chain has not closed on the purchase of the property but has a contract to buy it with the current owner, who Gatewood identified as Mark Ezell of Butler.

Same Ezell as the former player?

Maybe related but Rob Ezell (former player) is from Athens.

If I remembering right the owner, Mark Ezell, was at Alabama when I was - or maybe his son. The Mark Ezell I knew was a KA.

I thought UA owned the center with Pita Pit across the street? Still, I can't believe how shitty the Strip has become.

It's truly a shame to see. Won't be too long until there's a Walmart on the strip.

Why didn't the owner buy the property a long time ago when it was cheap? He has been there for 47 years

Isn't the worst idea I've heard of. Trading an overpriced clothing store for a pharmacy? Sounds like a win.

I knew it was headed down a very dark path when Cheap Shots closed

There's already a CVS on McFarland. Greed is a terrible thing. Hope everyone starts going elsewhere.

There is already a pharmacy in Publix so it really isn't adding convenience to students

Think of CVS & Walgreen as mini Wal-Marts. They approach developers/property owners about what site they want and the developers/property owners love them because they are money in the bank. It happens everywhere and small businesses can't match the money that the drug chains are willing to pay. Some of the best properties out there are snatched up by the drug stores and with the growth of the healthcare industry expected to increase, it'll just get worse.

I enjoyed The Strip as a student. But it needed an image overhaul. Can't say I've agreed with every move UA has made to force change for the area, but I like the overall idea.

Isn't there one just up University near the hospital as well, or is that a Rite id or Walgreen's?
