The Lake Tuscaloosa home of pro football player Rolando McClain of the Dallas Cowboys burned to the ground Monday evening.

No one was home at the time, and no injuries occurred in fighting the blaze at the lakefront mansion, said Fire Chief Tom Clarke of the Carroll’s Creek Volunteer Fire Department.

Tuscaloosa County property records show McClain’s residence was at 15139 Waters Edge Drive.

The fire was spotted at about 6 p.m., and Clarke said the entire house was well engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived, making it impossible to save. The Tuscaloosa Fire and Rescue Service also responded and helped fight the fire, preventing it from possibly spreading to neighboring properties. A call to the Tuscaloosa battalion chief who was at the scene was not immediately returned last night.

The mansion was McClain’s off-season home. He reportedly was not in the state on Monday.

Clarke said it is too early to say what might have caused the fire.

Glad he wasn't around. It would not be shocking if this was arson. He may have made a few enemies in Decatur when he decided to clean up his act.

This house has been on the market for almost a year now.

Are you serious? If that is the case the insurance will def be looking at him because of this. My Dad was selling a house and it burned down and the insurance did a big investigation into it. Lets not forget that McClain may not have a big contract right now with Cowboys and who knows what his finances look like right now.

I doubt this was driven by money from Rolando's perspective he's about to get a big contract.

Maybe he left the gas on last time he was in town?

Or maybe it was arson from a gang based in Decatur.

The timing is highly suspicious to me... a Bleacher Report article came out a few days ago, in which Ro talks about the importance of this home in getting his life and career back on track. I suspect an enemy read that report, knew Ro does not live there year 'round, and took the opportunity to exact revenge for who knows what.

There were only a couple of actual quotes from Ro in that article. They weren't about his house.

I wonder if he had his championship rings and the Butkus and Lambert awards there.

I am glad that his kids weren't there when it happened.

Not at all. I like to keep positivity on this board which is why I didn't mention it until I got called out. Takes a lot more than random people on the internet to make me mad.
