How does one properly cheer at a basketball game?

After demolishing Oklahoma State and a Clemson team that has beaten 3 SEC teams, it's obvious that USC will be carrying the conference banner with UK.
My question is directed to the fanbases of basketball schools (UK, Vandy, Missouri) and schools that have usually have decent basketball teams (UF, Arky). I've attended basketball games for years, but never had a team that was worth cheering for.
When playing defense, is it appropriate to yell "let's go D" like at football games? It felt weird since there isn't a separate defensive personnel. But "ohhhh" for 35 seconds felt way too obnoxious.
Thanks for helping out a fan of the new powerhouse basketball program in the conference.

Generally this. Also depends on how many old arse season ticket holders you're surrounded by who want to bitch that you're standing up at a basketball game.
Make lots of noise when your team needs a run or is in the middle of one.

I was yelling "frick'EM-UP D!" tonight, but that may have been wrong.
I dunno.
That's the third or fourth team we've held to under 30% from the floor ... in a row.
Whatever we're yelling, it's working.
We dominated Clemson tonight, more than we did Okie St IMHO.

We pretty-much yell that at all officials. It's our official cheer ... pardon the pun.

You have a great coach. I went to the Mizzou SC game at SC our first year in the SEC. I was at a bar talking to some fine SC fans, and told them that their bball team would be winning before long. Had a great time by the way.

This team is not overly talented ... but sheesh, they are playing hard for Martin.
If he keeps signing recruits like he has been, he might actually get us back to The Dance before too long.
