This argument never gets old. They would lose to 2011 because they weren't good enough to make the title game. You should have chosen 2004 USC but they weren't the best team of 2004.

2011 Bama team? The second place team in the Western Division? Why didn't you choose 2003 USC?, then you would have two teams that didn't deserve to be named champion.
