Kinda hurts my heart a bit knowing what the kid was coming from and how getting a college education and a chance to play in the SEC could change his life.

There's a million what-if's and could've beens like him in the world and tens of thousands of those guys are chilling behind bars.

The kid messed up big time. But Bert at least helps guys transition to somewhere else, he doesn't just wash his hands and say peace out.

ETA: just go to the espn link in the article I linked. This CFT article is a hot mess of fail and plagiarism.

I think they just got Collins and Williams mixed up.

What was it he kept doing to violate rules? Weed? ... Not saying that's ok, & I'd heard Marshall was a habitual pot smoker, but seems like there would've been more to it. Was there some incident or something?

Here's the deal....

Marshall's brother moved to Fayetteville the summer of his freshman year....You guys know where they come from...You guys can put the pieces together.

From everything Ive been told, Marshall was better off living in the dorms with teammates his freshman year than living with his brother this season.

edit: The red charger you've seen Marshall pictured with, is his brothers, not his...

On the pregame during his first suspension Schafer said it was beyond just team rules and more of a University issue.

Someone else has said this, but at this point, I'm not sure I'd want him back on the team because I doubt his teammates would want him back. I also doubt Bert wants to show favoritism, especially to someone who's really done nothing on or off the field to warrant it.

It is a shame to see something like this happen but hopefully this will help him to do better where ever he winds up next. I think the kid has a world of talent and if he can get his life straightened out he could do well for himself.

This can also be a good lesson for the rest of our players. I'm sure some of them saw how Malzahn handled the Marshall situation and figured they could get away with certain things. Bert ain't puttin up with that shite.

Too true, strong foundations mean doing the right thing in regards for all the players, not just the ones who aren't potential stars.

Hopefully he stays in CFB and goes to a solid FCS program with a no-nonsense / tough love HC. That's what he needs. He also needs to get more of his play on film if he thinks he's going to the league. This can be done ala Randy Moss, although he did to go Marshall but Marshall was a complete unknown really prior to Moss' arrival - basically since their entire team as killed in that crash.
