and Saban talking to the guys on the SEC set.
Just watched it.
Hate to say it, but that lil feller is trying to grow on me. Liked a lot of what he had to say, couple of interesting points:
1. Blake Sims - he said he doubted whether he could ever play qb and succeed as a passer then went on to praise him a lot. Lot of honesty in what he said and Sims appears to be the glue of this team. The guy who worked hard for so long, everyone wanted to see succeed and now Sims is probably the best qb in the SEC (him or Nick).
2. Said this bama team isn't the most talented, but they have the best chemistry of any bama team he has had. Tells me the other 3 in the playoffs are fricked. Bama playing together as a team isn't losing to anyone.
3. Liked what he had to say about the SECCG. Talked about how much it means and how it is a huge accomplishment. IMO, all the other conference championship games are play in games for the playoffs, or hoped to be such. The SECCG is a real championship game. It means a lot and is a 10X bigger accomplishment than any other conference championship game and probably tougher to get to and win than the actual national championship.

If Blake doesn't get unanimous All SEC QB this year, then it's downright bullshite.

said in pressers before yesterday that there were energy vampires on last years team. Sims will go down as one of the most loved fB players in Alabama history. Now if he can get us a ship it will further cement his legacy

first or second team is how I see it with Dak maybe his competition

Sims worked his arse off and spent several weeks over the spring and summer with outside QB coaches to work on his mechanics. I personally didn't think he'd be able to keep the job much less move the chains, but he did it and deserves the praise/credit. He's a good kid and I'm proud to say he's our QB.

I don't think they would be in this position if they had started Coker.

Sims had his share of screw ups and dodged more pick six int attempts than any QB I can remember, ever. But he also had so many successful executions that the numbers validate. That's the amazing part of his story to me, that he accomplished so much with so little experience at the position.
No doubt the rest of team team is solidly behind him too.

I went to the game.
They are really good especially front 7.
Only weakness is defending deep passes.
They have so many playmakers on offense it is really tough to take away anything.
I give FSU a shot against Bama, but with a month to get ready I would not bet against Saban.
Oregon is not polished or powerful enough to beat Bama. I doubt urban can control his palpitations enough to beat Saban.

IMO you have to look to the whole season to evaluate. That being said, i would place Dak as 1st team All SEC QB with Sims 2nd team.

Good post, AU83. And Spurrier said it... it's harder to win the SEC than it is to win a National Championship. He weren't wrong. It's very fricking hard.

?????
Blake had 2 400 yard passing games and 3 games where he had clutch 4th quarter moments. Dak is a great QB but Blake has totally outclassed him in these last few games.

Blake is probably my all time favorite Bama player. He represents Sabans process. Humble and selfless. He became a great passer in front of our eyes this season. Throws a near perfect deep ball. The ultimate team player.

I really can't argue with that, but with that said if Kiffin had let Sims run the ball like Mullens did Dak, Sims would have put up huge rushing numbers.

True but head to head, Sims was the better. Though yeah, we were playing that game at home. Sims has won when it mattered and led the team to a win after being down a few times. I guess my Bama bias is leaning towards Sims but probably without the bias, I'd say Marshall, Prescott and Sims have been pretty much a toss-up this season. Am I the only one though who feels even Marshall is a little better than Prescott?

Good debate material here. Dak obviously has less to work with than the best receiver in team history and the stable of running backs. Bama is 10-2, 9-3, 11-1 without Sims. MSU is 6-6 at best without Dak.

And yet there are still some among us (Bama fans) who think even at this point, Coker would be the better QB.
Sorry to say, I ran into one in Denver who was saying that at the half yesterday on a smoke break outside the pub. ~smh~

Well-the chemistry is there now....after a 3 week layoff, lets hope so!!!

Debatable through infinity if Coker starts and plays well next year. No doubt Blake bailed out the Tide more than once in critical times this year with his feet. I don't see that happening more than never with Coker.

Sims clutch QB draw on third down was a play Coker would not have made.
In college, a mobile QB is useful.
Sims is good and clutch.
