From Hubbs

quote:

It appears that deal is the process of finalized with Jones receiving a 6-figure increase and an increase we believe will be somewhere around 3.3 plus the ability for that to go higher with some incentives. The contract extension is thought to extend out to the 6 year deal he originally signed almost two years ago to the day. Also, there is expected to be a 6-figure increase in the assistant coaches salary pool.

We desperately need a new oline coach, possibly a new OC.

Bajakian had his hands tied with an OL that was the worst in recent memory. Can't fault him for that. Turnover is NOT what we need anywhere

So, his salary is going to 3.3 mil and the extension is 2 years? Is that right?

I don't mind losing the Oline coach but I agree Baja needs more time. As frustrated as I was with him at times I don't think he was ever playing with a full deck

I wish I got raises for being mediocre. Having to actually produce results is a pain.

I agree, he doesn't deserve a raise yet. I understand trying to keep a staff in place and all, but this is a tad premature.

This is the way the CFB world works now.

Pelini just got fired after winning no fewer than 9 games since 2008. He got his first raise ($425k) after 3 years and a 29-12 record.

This is not the way CFB works. This is the way Tennessee's current and inept administration works. We got Butch from Cincinnati. There's no reason we shouldn't have at least a $7mm buyout (I know if we fire the trumpeter we have to pay him $6mm, but I'm not sure what we get if he leaves via quitting or being hired away). That way if he wants to use Michigan's opening as leverage, we can call his bluff. If he does leave, we use the buyout to hire someone who can do more than pay bagmen to bring players in.

The facts are if you want to keep him you pretty much have to give him a raise. The good news is of with Supra posted is true this could be a whole lot worse, it's not that big of a raise and I don't think any of us have a problem with incentive money as long as the results are on the field.

Even if we had a $7 million buyout Michigan could just pay it if they wanted him, hell florida just did for Jim fricking Mcclewain.

(Not that I think Mcclewain's a terrible hire, but he's not worth that kind of cash)

I know. That's why I said

True, and like I said, this administration is absolutely awful. I want Dave Hart gone before anyone else. I do not trust him to make another hire.

I just don't know about Hart, it's been so long since we had an AD the fans actually trusted that I'm not so sure we just don't hate them regardless.

Obviously, the way the basketball program was handled was dissapointong (at least for me) but I'm not so sure what else Hart was supposed to do when he hired Butch

The main thing I don't get about Hart is all the experience he has in the AD world and all his ringing endorsements, he makes some dumbass decisions.

I'm not privy to the intimate details of all the ADs decisions, but from the outside, some are head scratchers.

Side note, I was trying to find all of his hires at UT, but instead found this: • "Restructured the athletics department and developed an organizational flow chart."

Flow charts are super fricking important

The salary raise is not my problem with this. My problem is that for every extension, it becomes harder to get rid of them with the buyout extending. My problem was never giving Fulmer the raise, it's the extension and buyout that came with it that killed us for a half decade.

Salient point, probably something that is overlooked as most of us just look at the money. I certainly don't have a problem with incentive based raises, because that's how it should be.

He made us look like a hapless joke during that search. It was beyond embarrassing. And after it all, he settled on a coach that two other hapless jokes were vying for.
