Apparently Kelly doesn't like coaching in the NFL very much & wants to return to the college ranks... His NCAA "show-cause" penalty expires on Dec. 25th...

Not good at all if this were to come to fruition...

Says who?

I'm seeing more buzz saying he's not interested than I am saying he is.

This would be terrible, but not happening.

He has a great team in Philly. Not sure why he would leave.

I don't see Kelly leaving the NFL for a very long time......

He's got a good thing going.

From Sirus Sports Radio... most of the talk is from Chris "Mad Dog" Russo & Dan Patrick...

He's got a championship caliber team in the NFL in a very short time. All he needs is a reliable healthy QB and one more decent pass rusher and he's there. He's having tremendous success and his fanbase loves him. How could he be dissatisfied?

I don't buy it. These rumors are always bullshite. Just like Saban to the NFL or John Gruden out of the TV booth. Always just bullshite rumors said so many times that people begin to believe them.

Can't see him leaving the NFL now. If he was really struggling (ala Nick Saban, Spurrier) then sure. But Kelly had a winning record last year and this year so far.

If it happens, we will need to retain the same team that Auburn hired to knock out Mike Price, plant him in a strip club, and charge a thousand dollars worth of lap dances to the University.

I honestly don't see it happening because of the fact that Kelly absolutely hated the aspect of recruiting, and is also not a fan of the whole booster dynamic. Dude just seems like he wants to be able to go to work each day and focus on solely on football and not have to deal with any of the extra curricular bullshite.

From Pro Football Talk last year

quote:

“My schedule, the day the season was over, was a lot worse than my schedule here because you’re planes, trains and automobiles recruiting from Sunday night until Friday afternoon and hustling back and practicing, getting a practice in Friday afternoon, practice Saturday, practice Sunday, get back on a plane and fly around the country chasing down recruits,” he said, via Sheil Kapadia of PhillyMag.com. “Maybe a misconception is when you’re a college coach and the last game is done and then the bowl game comes, you don’t have a month off. I would argue my schedule was more hectic from a recruiting standpoint than it was here.

“So I’m looking forward to being in the office every day and watching tape. That is the fun part of our job.”

IMO it is probably just leverage that his agent is using to get him a raise and nothing more.

This is probably one of those deals where the Florida AD knows he has zero shot at getting Kelly.......but he wants to put the message out there to the fanbase that he's going after the best.

P.R. move.

So people who are opposed to making a change because "we don't want to wind up Florida" are now scared that they are going to actually get an elite guy.

I understand reasons for wanting to keep him...I just hate the ones that do with not being able to find a good replacement.

At some point FL and TN are going to get so desperate that they break out the checkbook Bama style and pull some of these elite guys. It's not if...it's when.

That's when we'll need to join the ACC....

Do you honestly trust our athletic department to make a good hire should we go coach shopping?

Say what? Our engine is still running quite well. UF is broken down on the side of the road. These "people" you're referring to, myself included, don't want to trade in a working engine for one that might work better but will more likely leave us under repair for the next 10 years. This evidenced by all of the other programs out there actively tanking and struggling right now while looking for HC replacements.

Also as already made quite clear in this thread...this Chip Kelly stuff is all rumors. When you seek out a new head coach, you don't get to go draft just anybody you like. When you fire your HC in search of another one, you better be damn sure there are good options out there...and this Chip Kelly stuff is just rumors.

Good point. But it's a job that kind of recruits itself. Long term job stability if you can throw together a few winning seasons early kind of counteracts the drug tests and control our AD has to have.

I guess their only hire I've followed in recent years was Fox. I think he's a decent coach and about as good as we could have gotten with our programs prestige(don't give me that Bob Knight crap).
