It seems like every close game that's been played the past few years the team that loses has pretty legitimate beef against the refs for missed calls or bad calls.

I know teams that lose will always complain, but there have been some pretty awful calls recently in a lot of games and against a lot of teams.

I guess the worst call of all time was the PP7 "non interception" and that was 2009, but is it possible they are even worse now?

The worst call of all-time was picking up the flag on the pass interference play at the end of LSU-Auburn in 2006.

Human element.

Never has been perfect. Never will.

All close games have a call (or non-call) or 2 that might have made a difference.

You have 150 plays to overcome the imperfect officiating.

I think ball spotting has been fricking awful this year. It seems like some of these refs just pick spots on the field to put the ball. I've seen them be off by yards at times this season.

Bama overcame that bad simultanious possession call to win so I don't see the problem.

The officials have gotten better, if anything. The speed of the game is so much faster now, being perfect is impossible. Frame by frame breakdown of reviewable plays has absolutely spoiled the fans. If each play was reviewed at real time speed rather than slo-mo, there'd rarely be an arguable disagreement.

If This is the standard, the refs are doing a great job. The ball was tipped, everyone agrees with that. Probable should have been called, but would have only been a 15 yard penalty.

LSU: PP clearly intercepted Alabama and they let Bama keep the Ball.
AUBURN: weak PI against Sammie in the MSU game. Fumble recovery by TAMU. PI against UGA, we were not within 10 feet of him and he falls.
BAMA:
others: post the worse calls against your team

I think the reality is the calls usually even out. Replay has also helped considerably. If you watch games other than the SEC you'll see that the SEC officials aren't alone in making mistakes.

Exactly. The pace of the game with the HUNH's, and the raw speed of the players makes me wonder how they do as well as they do sometimes. I agree with your post 100%. Guys like Arrakis must love it to keep doing it with all the criticism they get.
