A few substantial reasons why Auburn will win the Iron Bowl

- The Good vs Good Factor: In the current era of CFB (1980-2013), both teams have been ranked 11 times when they played. Auburn is 10-1 in these situations. The lone loss coming in 1994. Auburn was favored in 5-6 of these games according to Vegas.
- The Saban Factor: Saban is 0-6 vs an Auburn team that finished the season in the top-25. He is 6-0 vs an Auburn team that finished the season unranked.
- Duke Williams is back and that shouldn't be overlooked. This game will be decided by turnovers and our offense. The efficiency of the offense fell dramatically as soon as Duke went down. If we score 30+, we win. If we score 17 points and have three turnovers, it won't really matter if the D gives up 24 or 48 points.

A few substantial reasons why Auburn will lose the Iron Bowl

- Trends are trends... not absolutes. There is a reason that Auburn is 10-1 in these games, it's not chance. But this game could be like 1994 and be a game where Bama turns history on its ear.
- If Auburn loses to Bama plus it's bowl game (a distinct possibility), we will likely finish the season unranked. Thus, The Saban Factor will be in favor of Bama.
- Auburn has had a 20ish-day pity party since they fumbled two snaps against a TAMU defense that was waving the white flag. They felt sorry for themselves against UGA. They slept walked through Samford. This is a real issue with the coaches and leaders on the team. They have a chance to make amends on Saturday and prove they aren't in free fall due to a couple of silly fumbles.
- Currently, Auburn is more concerned with routine tasks like ball control than with trying to get into the end zone. They've lost their mojo... so to speak. It could continue Saturday.

Never known a fanbase so proud to have more shitty teams than good ones.

I agree. Auburn will play well and keep the game competitive or we will play like crap and get run off the field. Nothing that has happened in the past matters at all

That this is what some of you are grasping at. I get looking for the silver lining in wake of the last few weeks, but some of you seem to want to finish unranked given the alternative. This statistic about Alabama versus ranked and unranked Auburn teams doesn't mean what you think it means.

When is the last time the game was not televised when neither team was on probation of some sorts denying them the opportunity of TV ?

I don't think there is another Auburn fan here or anywhere else that wants to see Auburn finished unranked.

Then why is this statistic brought up so much? That just points out a lot of average, to bad, AU teams over the last 30 years.

It is likely that Auburn finishes this season ranked. Saban has never beaten an Auburn team that has finished with 9 wins. Auburn has 8 right now.
