AU plays 4 2014 Tourney Teams to start the season.

OOC schedule is tougher than normal for AU, which isn't necessarily saying much.

I expect us to be much improved and for KT Harrell and Antoine Mason to be one of the better scoring duos in the conference. If everything falls into place, this could be an NIT team.

What does your teams OOC schedule look like?
What are your expectations?
Will your team be better or worse than AU?

Difficult. We play some good teams such as Iowa State, Xavier, Wichita State, UCLA, etc.

Unrealistic but I always convince myself we are a tourney team before the year starts

Pretty solid as it has been the last 3-4 years.
- Towson (25 wins last year)
- Western Carolina (19 wins last year)
- Southern Miss (29 wins last year)
- Iowa State (Top 15 team)
- Tennessee Tech (17 win team last year)
- @ Xavier (NCAA team last year)
- UCLA (sweet 16 team last year)
- Wichita State (35-1 last year)

Really have no idea. Best case a bubble team or 8-9 seed type, worst case much like last year. If it isn't best case I believe Grant is probably gone.

I would guess pretty even

UGA should be as good, maybe slight better, than last year. We seem to have a tougher conference schedule this year compared to last. It's kinda spread out and grouped in tough to extremely tough section. OOC games include: Gonzaga, Seton Hall, Tech, Colorado, and Kansas State. If we can somehow enter conference play with some sort of life, we should be good enough to back door our way into the tourney. NIT should be a lock.

I'm glad that son of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob is back in the SEC coaching. I like Pearl and i respect his motivation. I think he will have AU playing great basketball very soon and i'm sure he will recruit very well.

We are going to get killed on the glass and we don't have anyone to protect the rim. Much like our football team, we are just going to have to score a bunch.

Pearl will figure something out. Guy is great at recognizing strengths and figuring out how to craft his style around it.

What he did at Tennessee his first 2 years is one of the most amazing things I've seen.

I imagine Bruce will have y'all playing fast and throwing up a lot of 3s...the Iowa State of the SEC except for being far less talented

That'll change soon though

Overall the SEC has really stepped up the Non Conference scheduling. That will be huge once everyone starts beating up on eachother in conference play as RPIs won't sink.

The biggest problem a lot of the SEC West teams had was scheduling the Gramblings, Alabama States, MSVU, etc of the world. Their RPIs of 275+ are total killers on an overall RPI. You have to find mid-majors in non retched conferences who will win 10-15 games and have an RPI in the 150-200 range as your cupcakes.

Yep. We will go small and fast paced and try to force teams to match up and play small with us.

To hit .500 this year. Making a run at the NIT.

Frank Martin's recruiting has been improving. As long as he sticks it out like Dawn Staley did, SC will start being relevant next season. Just not quite yet this season.

We should win 1 or 2 games that we aren't supposed to win (like Kentucky last year).

It could work out ok for Bama in the long run. When Saban came to Tuscaloosa it forced AU to step up its already high commitment regarding all aspects of football.

If Bruce continues his recruiting success and starts winning at AU, Bama will be forced to do whatever it takes to compete. They aren't going to just concede basketball in the state to AU.

I like Grant and not because I'm an Auburn fan. Losing Lacey and Randolph struggling for the better part of the year cost Bama some close games last year. I think this years team is more balanced scoring wise and should be on the NCAA bubble. The key imo is can Taylor give you an offensive presence in the post. If he can average 12+ I like Bama's chances of getting in the tourney.

The OOC thing must be common for most of the SEC.

Mizzou plays a tougher OOC schedule too:

Arizona
KSU/Purdue
Illinois
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
Xavier

I do wish that Alabama & Auburn would do the back-to-back games at the BJCC again. They did it back in 2007 and even though both lost, I think it was a great move to showcase bball in the state.

Sounds like Pearl wants to play a few games in Bham....something I've wanted Alabama to do a lot more of.
