Great map.

LINK

No FSU, no Miami. UF was the only team in the state.

Really interesting to see what the college football landscape looked like then. Some current national powers that aren't even listed, and several schools that don't sponsor football anymore. Look at all the schools in the Northeast and in Colorado!

Nickname - U. Mississippi is listed as "Ole Miss" not the Rebels.

Yep.

Sewanee, Pacific, Denver, Colorado SM, Greeley, Creighton, all the SoCon schools, Washington & Lee, George Washington, etc.

Also, this is random, but Logan, UT is where Provo should be and Provo is where Logan should be.

There are quite a few geography errors, but that's not uncommon in these popular cartoonish maps of the era.

I didn't know Case Western ever had a football team, for instance.

The year this map was made, TCU was national champion.

Major Conference Champions and final ranking:
Big Six: Oklahoma (#4)
Big 10: Minnesota (#10)
Pacific Coast: USC (#7)
SEC: Tennessee (#2)
Southern: Duke (#3)
Southwest: TCU (#1)

I'm thinking Ole Miss started using the name "Rebels" ~1936.

That's really cool. I'm not sure I'd want to spend $100+ for a decent sized one (14" is tiny, 40-50" is more worth the wall space) but I'll seriously consider it.

Bama was coming off a pretty impressive run about that time too. The only bowl was the Rose Bowl and we played in it 25', 26', 30', 34' and 37' seasons going 3-1-1 for our first 3 nattys.

Thanks for pointing that out. Obvious forgery. The word "Indians" didn't come about until 1972. Before that, it was "DamnedInjuns." Google it.

Is the picture for Sewanee a giant pile of shite?

ETA: If anyone gets one, will you bump this thread with a review of the print quality?

Didn't realize the old Southwestern conference was just a bunch of Texas schools and Arkansas.
