Not that we deserved to be bailed out but does the fact that Avery Young is standing up and Marshall moving toward the line of scrimmage not make for an illegal snap?

Dismukes hiked it against his own arse...craziest shite I've seen from a center in a while. On a side not if Avery is moving it should have been a false start.

It actually hit Nick in the leg. From behind it looks like he snapped it into his butt, but that was his hand popping his thigh.

No. he hiked it to Nick. Bounced off Nick and went back through Dismukes legs

Nick was moving forward and not set at the snap which would be an illegal motion/false start but it wasn't called and we did everything to deserve losing that way so whatever.

We didn't even deserve the ball back after we ran a read option on the fricking two yard line Running something like that where there's a clear chance for a miscommunication or a bad read and a fumble when all you really need to do is call a dive up the middle is beyond me.

But the offense didn't lose that game, that shite is on the D.

I believe there is a different penalty for what happened and it wasn't called.

This is from Wikipedia:

quote:

while both the NCAA and NFHSAA make a distinction between an "illegal shift" and "illegal motion"; an illegal shift refers to players shifting and not coming to a complete stop before the snap while illegal motion refers to a player who is in motion towards the line of scrimmage, or a player who is not a "back" in motion.[2] In both leagues, however, the penalty for illegal motion/illegal shift is five yards from the previous spot and replay the down.

I think if the refs were able to call a penalty on the play, it would have been an illegal shift that would not result in a dead ball foul and could be declined by the defense. A false start is where the offense gets set and then starts the play before the ball is snapped. That would have been a dead ball penalty and would not have been declinable by the defense.

In my opinion, this was mostly Dismukes at fault, but Marshall deserves a bit of blame as well. We were in a two minute drill and we are already a hurry up offense. Why Marshall decided to start barking orders after the offense had gotten set, I don't know. But Dismukes shouldn't have snapped it.

Bingo. We should have been flagged, but they are not dead ball fouls. A&M simply would have declined the penalty.
