According to Richt in Emerson's article, he isn't confident that Marshall will play against UF. If that is the case, can he get a medical redshirt?

LINK

Also states that MM and JSW are practicing in regular jerseys, Rumph still in green, Tibbs a no show, and Bennett in green. Take it for what its worth.

i seriously think that some of Marshalls problem is Gurley...the shadow and all that...he knows he is the lesser of the two and may just have lost his motivation...

If that is the case, then he is about to fall down the ladder real quick...

if memory serves you have to regular redshirt before you can get a medical, but I'm NOT positive on that.

I'm pretty sure you're right. Cause otherwise a medical redshirt isn't different than a redshirt unless you're trying to get a 6th year right?

(I don't remember if there's a games played element that is different between regular and med RS)

IMO, KM is our 4th best RB right now anyways, so I'm not too disappointed if he doesn't see the field. Our only concern should be depth, but Gurley, Chubb, and Douglas can take care of business.

KM should redshirt for sure...he won't see the field much when he comes back anyway

Is it true KM ran a 40 around 4.25?

I'm really hoping that he can get the injuries and the PTSD (TIC) behind him this year and come back and be a major factor next year.

I know he hasn't been impressive since last season guys but do not forget what he was able to do in 2012 as a true freshmen. His abilities are definitely an asset ANY team would covet. We need to be patient and not lose sight of how talented this guy was and can be once healthy. We NEED all the help we can get if we want to contend for the playoffs so redshirting would not beneficial. Even if he can't get more than a handful of carries he can contribute to special teams and spot roles as a receiver.

I'm of the mindset that you put your best players on the field. Best being best right now, not best 2 years ago. Right now Gurley, Chubb, and Michel are all running better than Marshall. Michel's out, but Marshall is still behind Gurley and Chubb. I think we redshirt Marshall if we can (not sure if that's possible). If we can't redshirt him, then bring him in for mopup duties, which should come some time 3rd quarter vs UF.

While I realize his touches have been limited and he's been nursing an injury, Marshall averages 2 yards per carry this season. We have 4 other RBs who are all averaging 5+ YPC. The few times I've seen Marshall run this year, there seems to have been no real drive. He's been running flat. It's got to be because of his competition. If that's the case, he's choosing to give up instead of step up.

Agreed, be we are STACKED at RB. KM is good enough to start at any school and be RB1 at most, and here I am saying that I'm okay with him at #3 or 4.

I really hope Marshall returns to his old form, he seems like a good kid with a great attitude and he definitely
deserves a break.

I think we all like Gurley and Chubb both on and off the field as well. There's not enough room for all of them. Other schools are jealous.

That, sir, is a good problem to have.

He still has last years injury in his head, so when he did get play some this year he was playing not to get hurt

Agreed. Coming back from a season ending injury has got to be tough. Can't fault a man for running with caution. I'd do the same, but I'm a big fat p**sy. If he wants to win back his starting role, then he's going to have to overcome that fear. Unfortunately so far this year, he's either not able to overcome that fear, or he's injury-prone/aggravating last season's injury.

With all of the running back updates, I completely forgot about Tibbs. Hope he's back soon too.

We really need him to be healthy for later this season or at least next year. Maybe im just used to our guys getting hurt but I'm waiting for us to have a fully healthy team
