You should probably add SPOILER ALERT to the thread title. Some of tRant posters get upset if we talk about what happened tonight.

That said, the Termites are back. Yuck, I had hoped they all died at Terminus. I hate cannibals.

Is Gabriel associated with the Termites? Something strange is going on with him.

What Did Abraham mean when he commented to Rosita, "That's why we're waiting to make our move," while observing Michonne killing a walker?

There are the Terminus folk, and you also have the car with the cross on it that kidnapped Beth. Those could be the Saviors from the comics. In the Season 5 trailer it looked like Beth was holed up in some kind of dungeon. Looks like Daryl and Carol will run into them next week. Either way, Rick is going to kill Gareth in a very slow and very torturous way.

I just want Gareth gone. The cannibalism angle is horrible. I'm not enjoying that aspect of the show at all.

I know we should expect every bad quality possible to show itself in this series but I just don't like cannibalism.

I wonder if Daryl and Carol count as two of the three missing (including Bob) that might have been taken by the Termites?

In the preview for next week, they said three people were missing. I think the group assumes that Gareth also took Daryl and Carol, not knowing they went looking for Beth. Bob was a breath of fresh air these last two seasons, he has a lot of Dale in him. I hate that Bob's become food for the Terminus folk, but I think he got bit by a walker. If so, I wonder if this could turn Gareth and his crew.

That's an interesting thought. I also thought Bob got bit when he kissed Sasha and then went off by himself and started crying. It would be cool if Bob's misfortune wipes out the cannibals.

Yeah i was saying he was bitten ever since the walker surprised him in the water,so when he asked for the kiss. I knew i was right. Then he cried but got attacked but i never got confirmation. I hope he was and the cannibals get it. They should have just killed the priest as soon as he said he hadn't killed a person or walker. He must have refused to open his church while people were getting eaten, judging by the words on the building, but maybe there is more to it.

This is an entire series about cannibalism.

Not going to lie, bro. I probably wouldn't rely on it as my primary food source, but if I was going hungry in a post-apocalypse, I'd resort to cannibalism here and there when I had to. All social mores and taboos are out the window at that point.

Yeah, I have that opinion, too. I think that's why he's so jittery. He's expecting God to strike him down because of his sin.

Well, yes, in a way. It's real life cannibalism that freaks me out so much, though, and Gareth reminds me of the sickos in our society that practice it. I rank cannibals down there with pedophiles as the lowest forms of scum.

Cannibalism by fictional zombies doesn't bother me for some reason.

Interestingly enough, our survival instincts will generally override our emotions, morals, mores and taboos when we face extreme hunger. The Donner Party is a famous example of what happens when humans run out of food and there is no hope finding anymore.

On TWD, however, Gareth and his band eat people simply because they like it. Gives me the heebie jeebies.

Yeah, that's what makes it quite sinister.

There actually is something to that. "Wendigo psychosis" is a phenomenon that occurs in people who, for one reason or another, ate another human. They sometimes develop a pretty ravenous appetite for human flesh ever though other food sources are readily available.

Watching that fricker eating part of Bob's leg in front of him made me queasy.

"If it makes you feel any better, you taste much better than we thought you would."

From Wikipedia:

"Wendigo psychosis" (also spelled many other ways, including "Windigo psychosis" and "Witiko psychosis") refers to a condition in which sufferers developed an insatiable desire to eat human flesh even when other food sources were readily available,[15] often as a result of prior famine cannibalism.[16] Wendigo psychosis traditionally has been identified by Western psychologists as a culture-bound syndrome, although there is a debate over the existence of the phenomenon as a genuine disorder. The theory was popular primarily among psychologists in the early 1900s, and may have resulted from a misinterpretation of northern Algonquian myths and culture.[17]

Yuck.

The thing is, the Terminus folks don't have to eat humans. They do it because it's easier than their alternatives or because they like it. Having Bob be the one who is eaten is deliberate. He is the closest thing to Dale we've seen. He believes, like Dale, and rightly I might add, that "humanity" and "morality" are not suspended just because the surrounding world is chaotic, because one's ability to consciously act against his or her self-interest is the defining feature of human beings. This is why he wouldn't abandon Maggie on the way to Terminus, even though it put him in danger, and it's why he told Gareth he could come back from his deeds. Bob has shown, like Dale, that the post-apocalyptic world is merely the excuse for some humans to willfully devolve into monsters.
