IF our coaches have any sense they will put the full court press on Roseboro. We need DTs BADLY

Burrell doesn't even have Michigan in his Top 3. How does this help Tennessee?

What happens to Tennessee recruiting when Butch takes the Michigan job?

SC will go hard after Chris Clark and we have a good chance of getting him. We desperately need tight ends. Roseboro is most likely NC State bound

Same thing to Alabama when Saban takes the Dallas Cowboy job.

We do not need TEs at all. Clark seems to be more trouble than he's worth to me, especially with Helm and Wolf on the roster as freshmen and 1-2 on the depth chart.

Chris Clark I don't know. OSU was in the running the whole time, then took 2 TEs and people inside say they don't want to go back and take another look (happy where they are)

Burrell I had no idea he was really considering Tenn. I had thought it was an OSU/FSU battle

The other 2 I know nothing about (mainly because OSU is and was never really involved)

My initial post was from Fortenberry, I believe.

Farrell made a post later that evening, and said the Michigan guys and Burrell. They're exclusive, but the update came around the same time.

Farrell posted this today

quote:

The school mentioned the most by Michigan commitments when it comes to other schools to look at is not Ohio State. It's the Tennessee Volunteers. The Vols have taken Georgia's place as the hottest team in recruiting and Michigan commitments (well former commit) Roseboro, defensive back Garrett Taylor and tight end Chris Clark are all showing renewed interest in Knoxville now that the Wolverines are faltering. I still think Roseboro is leaning towards N.C. State, especially after his official visit this past weekend, but the Vols will push hard. Based on their commitment from defensive tackle Shy Tuttle, they will be a thorn in the side of any school recruiting the state of North Carolina.

quote:

As for Taylor and Clark, Taylor will look long and hard at Virginia Tech as a local option, at Ohio State as a Big Ten option and the Vols very closely amongst others, while Clark is talking USC, Texas and Tennessee.

quote:

The biggest example of the Vols power in recruiting? How about Friday's commitment from Virginia athlete/defensive end Darrell Taylor? Taylor was a lock for Virginia Tech just a couple of days before his announcement, Hokies assistant coach Shane Beamer signed his cousin last year and this was as big a lock as there could be. Then two days later, he picks Tennessee because he sees an opportunity to be an immediate impact pass rusher. With Jones playing a lot of true freshmen this season, it is an easy sell to recruits. When I talk to big-time kids in the 2016 class, the Vols are usually mentioned every time, a sure sign of a program turning things around talent-wise.

More from Farrell

quote:

The Vols 1-2 punch at DT with Tuttle and Kahlil McKenzie is historically significant, at least from a Rivals.com rankings perspective. I would put only the Florida DT 1-2 haul in 2010 of Sharrif Floyd and Dominique Easley and Florida State's 1-2 combo in 2012 of Mario Edwards and Eddie Goldman ahead of this off the top of my head. It is extremely rare for two defensive tackles ranked in the national top 60 to choose the same school. It makes the commitments even that much more impressive and if Tennessee somehow adds Roseboro, that would be historic.

quote:

Keep an eye out for Tennessee with Virginia offensive lineman Matthew Burrell Jr. as well. I think Florida State has a slight edge over Ohio State, but an official visit to Tennessee could shake up a lot of things and it could be in the works. Penn State is also in the mix, as is Alabama to a lesser extent, but keep an eye out on his next few official visits to see if things change up.

Does Burrell project as an OG or OT?

I'm not sure but I'm leaning towards OT. His listed position is OT but he's an OG in the rankings. At 6'5 300lbs already, it seems like he has the size and length to play tackle but it probably depends on his footwork and quickness if he can stay there.

Texas offered him today. Charlie Strong is desperate too.
