As always this list chronicles the top SEC running backs by production on the field to date for the current season. Objective statistics are the primary criteria utilized in formulating this list, however, the statistics are set into context based on the quality of opponent upon which the statistics were accumulated. In some instances where the choice is close, a subjective eye test is also taken into account. However, hype, injuries, suspensions, etc. are not. This isn't a list of most talented or a prediction of NFL draft status. It is just an unbiased look at which 5 SEC RB's are getting the job done the best on the field. As such, this list will likely drastically change each week, especially early in the season.
Note: This list only looks at performance at the RB position. Thus, kick and punt return yardage aren't part of the evaluation. However, receiving out of the RB position is accounted for.
1. Josh Robinson - The committee has been waiting to see Josh perform against legit competition. Well, LSU will have to do as Robinson put together his best game against MSU's toughest competition (allegedly).
2. Todd Gurley - The most talented RB ion the SEC has been slightly outproduces so far by Mr. Robinson. This was a close call, but Robinson earned the number 1 spot.
3. Alex Collins - Probably the second most talented back in the SEC. He stays in the Top 5 after a light workload against an over matched oppoenent.
4. Cameron Artis-Payne - Even with a bad game he produced 94 yards from scrimmage and his resume remains better than those below him.
5. Russell Hansborough - The only bright spot for Mizzou on Saturday, Hansborough sneaks onto the list primarily because no one else has earned the spot.
Worth a mention:
Johnathan Williams, Derrick Henry, Matt Jones, Sony Michel.

I need a little more substance from you if you want to have a discussion.

It's ridiculous that he is like 5'8" and 230 lbs. But you just can't tackle the son of a bitch.

meh no Bama players but I love the RB by committee system we've got going

Todd Gurley
He had 6 carries for 80 yards. He barely played. Todd Gurley is the best RB in the nation let alone the SEC.

Who has a better resume based on the criteria of this list?

No disagreements here. Gurley had limited carries against Troy to keep him healthy for Tennessee and to give Michel and Chubb reps. Meanwhile, Robinson balled out against LSU. Kid deserves the 1 spot... for now

No Amari Cooper? List is shite.

They essentially have the same yards per touch and Robinson has a few more yards per game. Robinson also had a great game against a defense the committee believed to be slightly better than anything Gurley has faced. It was a close call, but the committee got it right.

Gurley/Collins are a no brainer 1-2 and it's not close. I would argue that JWill belongs in the top 5 as well. No disrespect to Robinson just don't think he's in that class. I'd take Derek Henry over him any day and Weldon too for that matter.

Henry should be on there somewhere

This list is about production on the field to date. You might be right based on other criteria, but not for this list.
