I still have not seen Sims throw a good deep ball. I am afraid that this could be the week that it catches up to us. Bubble screens are not going to work all day against the Gators.

I am not sure why Coach Saban keeps sticking with Sims. I am afraid his loyalty will cost us a game before he realizes his mistake.

If it doesn't you have more problems than just Sims.

deep balls are about the worst way to beat someone. Its a low percentage pass, it means you most of the time just lose the down. New Orleans Saints only convert about half their deep passes and they usually lead the NFL at it. Think about that. Around half.

While I 100% agree with your post, a contrarian could argue that the constant threat of that downfield pass forces the defense to elongate opening the big holes for the short and intermediate passes to be more effective. So while the deep plays themselves may only work half of the time, the fact that it's even a possibility forces the defense to open up and make the higher percentage passes even easier.

If Sims hasn't proven to be a hellaciously accurate passer with excellent mental awareness and mobility by now.... meaning, better than Coker is at this point, then idk what else the man can do.

Few college quarterbacks are without a weakness or two. Not to mention, he's not the WORST long passer I've ever seen here.

All you have to do with a deep ball is create a little respect on the opposing team's defense. If it's a remote threat, then they have to dial coverage back at least some. That should be all we need.

Kiffin has been just fine so far. We'll see how he does in bigger games, but Kiffin has been really good at both calling plays and dealing with the QB situation.

Also - Blake is what he is - but Kiffin seems to have gotten him to a point where he does everything he can do about as well as possible. He is great on the oft made fun of quick slants and bubble screens. Get them out really fast and puts them right in stride of the WR. Way better than AJ used to be at it.

I think we are getting away from our style. I also don't think Coker was given the same opportunity to prove what he can do.

He had a REAL fair shot. The narrative through THREE games was that we didn't have a starter. He got to play in all 3. Saban is brilliant. He has given us no reason to doubt his judgement.

I don't care that Sims is black. I do think people are afraid to say things are negative or pro Coker because they will be labeled a racist. I don't have an agenda. A lot of others do.
