Oasis Beverages, the largest independent brewer in Russia, bought Pabst, which also produces Colt .45, Old Milwaukee and Lone Star beers, according to a statement by the American investment firm TSG Consumer Partners, which will hold a minority stake.
Oasis Board Chairman Eugene Kashper said, “Pabst Blue Ribbon is the quintessential American brand — it represents individualism, egalitarianism and freedom of expression — all the things that make this country great." PBC's headquarters will remain in Los Angeles, according to the statement, but the terms of the sale were not disclosed. Pabst was established in 1844 in Milwaukee, according to the brewer's website. PBC was bought by investor Dean Metropoulos in 2010, and since then, he has managed the company with his two sons, Evan and Darren. "We are very supportive of the new ownership group and their exciting plans for the future," Metropoulos said.

a few months back i was in San Diego and was drinking with a beer distributor at a bar.
We had a long conversation and i was sad to learn that Bud, Coors, Miller, and the like are not American owned in the least any more.
Yeungling is the largest American owned Brewery. Which is sad because it's the largest, and I can't even get it in TX.
Shiner, Sam Adams, St. Arnolds, etc.are still niche players, but as long as America drinks the swill put out by the big boys, they'll never get too much bigger.

Not everything is about 'growth', at least not as you see it.
It's not about micro brews getting large enough to distribute nationally, or get up there with the big boys.
It's about getting lots of microbreweries to service their local area, and collectively taking a large chunk away from the big players.

Beer capital of the world? While not owning their own breweries. Quite interesting.
A lot of you would be surprised by how many micro breweries are owned by foreign corporations, it's not just the big guys.
