"A school board cannot avoid summary judgment as a matter of law when a school administrator willfully ignores a plan to use a 14-year-old special needs student as bait to catch a student with a known history of sexual and violent misconduct, and as a result, the student is sodomized," reads the federal brief filed in the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals late today.

That's fricked up. I hope this gets the amount of media attention that Ray Rice got. Sadly, it probably won't

Because a plan like this could never go wrong.

I'm just shocked that he got away with so much before he even raped her. WTF is wrong with schools these days?

Not shocked. Kids can do anything and keep coming to school. We'd improve the education system by 3000% overnight if we allowed permanent expulsion for kids like this.

same for teachers. i was a good employee when i was in the system and one of the hardest things about leaving was the job security. I literally would have had to have killed somebody or slept with a student to have gotten fired. Kids could point blank look at porn, sex around at school, and they weren't at risk of getting kicked out.

And our school was not liberal when it comes to discipline.

That will change in our lifetime, IMO. Missouri is flirting with ditching unlimited teacher tenure. And we won't be the first or last.

A 16-year-old in middle school? Was he a special needs student, too?

quote:

Medical evidence confirmed anal tearing and bruising. The girl withdrew from school and moved to another state.

The federal brief argues school officials minimized the incident, listing it in the boy's extensive record as "inappropriate touching."

Yeah, I suppose anal tearing and bruising could be labeled "inappropriate touching."

quote:

The federal attorneys note one assistant principal, despite seeing photos of the injuries, contended school officials could not know if the girl had consented.

The assistant principal needs to be buggered and then asked if he or she consented.

quote:

"Vice-Principal Dunaway testified that (the girl) was responsible for herself once she entered the bathroom," wrote federal attorneys.

The torpedo that sinks the school's defense.

Up next is Vice-Principal Dunaway's comments were taken out of context. Nothing to see here.

We'd improve education 3000% if we let go of a system that was designed to program nervous systems with the intent of creating the ideal socialist state -- which as any educated person knows means 'state capitalism'.

Read the book description

I'll just post it.

In the shadows of the Bismarck’s totalitarian Germany in 1875, a little-known medical researcher laid the groundwork for a subject that in modern times was to bring American education to its knees--behavioral psychology. A latter-day disciple, B. F. Skinner, later wrote the book "Beyond Freedom and Dignity," arguing that such ancient conceptions as these are luxuries our brave new world can no longer afford. Another ardent follower--John Dewey, the "Father of American education"--took the new radical German redefinition of education to mean the reprograming of young brains and nervous systems, and applied it to his self-appointed task of creating in America the ideal socialist state. John D. Rockefeller, for purposes of his own, bankrolled what was in effect a hostile take-over of our educational establishment. "The Leipzig Connection" is a startling account of how and why these things came about. It lays out in concise detail the story of the development of the educational malaise which we have unknowingly dropped our children into, explaining not only declining SAT scores and the phenomenon of high school graduates who are barely literate, but also symptoms even more sinister: violence, prostitution and drug dealing in the schools, the self-mutilation of tattooing and body piercing, and teenage suicide.

The principal is either in, or was just in, a runoff to become the school system superintendent.

I agree to some extent though I'm confident I don't share the depth of your understanding of the issue that we should see in your response to my post.

Dewey wanted to create societal units of work, not whole people. But society becomes a closed feedback loop in this model and the inherent distortion in the system means it will move towards a less organized state.

Education organized around the idea of the Aristotelian good would negate a lot of the silliness of Dewey.

What state was this in? We fire teacher all the time at the end of the year when they have a poor performance.

Why should they be kicked out of school for these things?
