LSU has been tinkering with it in recent years and it's even more apparent this year. Hilliard/Williams line up at FB while Fournette/Magee line up at the HB slot. It seems to be working because the defense can't key on one back when loading the box. I know LSU is one of a handful of teams that consistantly runs the power I still, but what would other teams look like if they ran this occasionally. I drool over a gurley at FB and Chubb at HB scheme.

it would be switched. Chubb at FB and Gurley at tailback. It would be cool, but I'd rather just put Gurley (or Chubb, Michel, Marshall) at tailback with a better run blocker in front of them.

i didnt know how big chubb was, figured he was a smaller skat back so i figured gurley would be better at fullback

It's more apparent this year because you don't have a fat guard to line up back there like in the past. I miss the fat guard playing full back though, he always had a game changing fumble of penalty to swing the momentum back in Bama's favor. Probably because he was a fat lineman trying to play out of position. So yes, continue this trend of playing players out of position.

copeland was a 5 star defensive tackle out of HS

but yeah, he made a bunch of game altering mistakes vs alabama in 2012 and 2013.

He had his good moments, sadly I think those two games will be what he is remembered for mostly.

I know this will be considered a flame but it's not: I thought Copeland was one of the softest 270lb fullbacks I've ever seen. I saw him get stood up or stoned at the line numerous times. Go back to both 2011 games and the 2012 game in TS. To be considered a devastating blocker; I just didn't see it.

ETA: Al Borges lined up Carl Stewart at FB when he was at Auburn. Stewart was a killer on the PA wheel routes.

In my opinion yes. Chubb is a beast and would be a brutal FB. Gurley is gifted but fragile (my opinion only).

Georgia has run some sets with Gurley/Marshall and Gurley/Michel this year, but with one split out wide, not in the formation that LSU has done. I would like us to put them both in the backfield together such as Gurley/Chubb to give the linebackers something to think about.

I think we did some Gurley/Marshall against Nebraska two years ago in the Capital One, but it wasn't out of the I. They did some wildcat with it.
