One of the most underrated hurricanes ever. That sum bitch was no damn joke.

My parents lived in orange beach and their condo got wrecked. I was in atlanta and that bastard ripped through Atlanta and knocked power out over half the city or more for days.

Then the fricker turned around and wrecked shop again with a second landfall. Mean sumbitch.

Rode it out in Mobile. Would have devastated Mobile if not for that late NE turn into gulf shores.

Yeah, totally frick up there.

Was just reading Ivan had the second highest recorded accumulated cyclone energy ever for a storm in the atlantic.

Also the southernly most cat 3, 4, and 5 storm to ever form in the Atlantic.

Topped out at 165 mph sustained winds for over a minute with a radius larger than Texas and 131 foot waves in ite eye wall.

One serious damn storm.

dad went through Camellie in a single-wide on MS gulf coast. after that, he did not give a single shite about any other hurricane. couple that with the fact its usually hard to get back on the island after a storm even with property-owner stickers and he just said frick it, we're staying.

had a generator up the next day and was playing online games even though we had no running water, oddly enough DSL still functioned. guess the wire was run underground

Pretty damn nuts.

Took 5 days before my parents were let back into orange beach to see what was left of their condo.

I was in Orange Beach for Katrina and that was absolutely miserable. 5-6 days with no power in August. Would drive to Foley to eat and sit there for 3 hours just to stay cool in the AC.

it was pretty awful. our trailer had two roofs; an aluminum one over the original because the original started leaking awhile back (trailer was bought in '84).

Ivan took the aluminum roof and left the original. I remember climbing onto the roof to put plywood down and tar it the day after so we wouldnt get more water damage if it rained.

eventually sold off that trailer and had a house built, that fricker was pretty tough all things considered.

Well, that means that my generator is 10 years old and still purrs like a kitten. Honda generator knock-off, but strong as an ox.

My mom was pissed because she cooked enough food for a week thinking the power would be out. Our power was out for about 2 hours. Everybody across the streets power was out for over a week while I was playing NCAA 05 on my ps2 and chatting bitches on AIM

We were in Gulf Shores for a long weekend, got there on Saturday the 11th, left I want to say on Monday the 13th. I remember the red flags were flying most of the weekend, and traffic heading north that Monday morning was nuts.

Then the damn thing follows us to Atlanta.

That sob was mean. I left OB the day before he hit, went to mobile to my brothers house and helped him finish prep work. Fortunately my house had very little damage and I lived next door to the Mayor at the time and had my power back on 3 days after.

I was able to get back on the island the day after and wow! Hard to describe the damage, war zone. Our condo at the four Seasons was just hammered, all the windows were blown out and the pier was mia, our condo next door and the Nautilus wasn't all that bad. Mostly just exterior damage and to the pool.

It was chaos for the next few weeks getting the area cleaned up.

03-05 were the most active hurricane seasons that I can remember, especially since I have lived here full time.
